This is so bad. How'd they mess up their #1 song this much?

It should've been an Oscars smash hit if they performed it as it normally is.

I agree it was awful.

I didn't mind the rap and change of lyrics, however as Tía Pepa would say... "BUT!..."

The highlight of the song is all the melodies getting a chance to shine and then, on top of that, being mashed together in one of the greatest works of multiple counter melodies ever.

And they skipped that.

Unforgivable.

You can tell this was an award show for cinema and not stage, because they completely lacked an understanding of a Broadway musical number.

I don't think it needed the rap at all. Too many songs add raps in for no reason.

I agree they took the best part out.

Wow- that is one of the worst things I have ever heard. Like,ever...why would they do that? I was expecting the movie to play behind the voice cast, maybe some dancers with umbrellas. I think we can all see this scene making a phenomenal Broadway segment one day but this was not it. Ughhhhhhhh....so horrible.

Here are the lyrics to Megan's rap:

Every day all the kids wanna hear is Bruno
Bruno this, Bruno that, it's the new 'Let it Go'
Oh my God, Lin, you see what you have done?
On Hollywood's biggest night, best in all of cinema
Magic everywhere, stars everywhere
I need to see Oscar, Zendaya over there
Oh, no we got three hoes
These women are the best and they killin' all the jokes
So many nominees, all of them are nervous
I've seen all the envelopes, they behind the curtains
Party all the hotties, got Versace on my body
I ain't talkin' bout ... Yeah, I'm talkin' all money
Believe I'mma make it, I'm comin' for that gold
You can add it to my shelf, Academy Award
Oh, no, it's time for the show
Young Tina Snow don't talk about Bruno
Yes, that was what the lyrics were missing...a reference to hoes. Classy. How did Disney sign off on this? What a pure embarrassment for everyone associated with the film.

Were those hoes *really* "killin' it," tho?

Watched Encanto because one of my nieces wanted to see it.

Verdict, FWIW: It's another "Frozen" - a mediocre movie with mediocre songs that nonetheless managed to strike a chord with factions of the public. No, I didn't like it. The characters sucked. To the point that I didn't care what happened to them. Mirabel was treated like crap by her family. And people blamed Bruno for bad things happening when he didn't MAKE them happen, he just foresaw them happening. The villagers hated what he saw and went into denial instead of trying to head off the coming misfortune and then blamed HIM when the misfortunes came true? How does that make sense? Plot holes all over the place. This is going to be a franchise? Hoo boy. Hopefully Bob Chapek was just talking out his posterior again, as he did with the recent political debacle. IMO, "Disney" hasn't made a good animated film since Zootopia. I hope that somehow, some way, "Disney" comes up with a story or adaptation that has real magic in it. Like it used to. We'll see...

Anyway, I think this sums it up pretty well:

Great now can Orlando get something now beyond a janky a$$ garden during the Flower and Garden Festival and inauthentic Colombian food from the adjacent booth 👀

Like a meet and greet with Mirabel would be nice here too just saying 👀👀

For me you lost all credibility when you said "Disney" hasn't made a good animated film since zootopia.

Like wow, good score on Rotten Tomatoes, that totally makes up for the fact that the movie is a box-office flop. :D As for Disney+, what does "Disney" get out of having the flick on its streaming service? That service is a money pit. Loses tons of money. Will the subscribers who signed up to see Encanto stick around? We'll see...
