another thread is speculating Rohde is coming back. I wonder if he’s on board with this reimagining of DAK (particularly the inclusion of Zootopia)

Zootopia would be cool, rohde said that they try to keep the No Pants rule, and I don’t think the conservation station is being removed anytime soon because I think Disney would rather keep it in honor of animal safety And relocating it would be tricky…

I did not hear about Zootopia but I did hear from someone within that Rohde was shown the plans last year for the Dinoland replacement and was very happy with them.

I really wonder how Rohde feels about Dinoland as it was built. I know a good amount of people generally view everything outside of DinoRama pretty favorably and wouldn't want it to change, but I wonder if he's more ready than anyone to put it out to pasture after being forced to design it around the initial budget cuts when the park was built.

Fascinating, that's the first I've heard of the Door Coaster being at all alive in a very long time. I do know for a fact that the old plans still exist at WDI (haven't seen them, but I know someone who has).
I would imagine they keep records of everything, even long shelved or cancelled projects, or even things that would be physically impossible now?

Animal Kingdom also known as Bridgeland. It's the only place that makes bridges the transition to the different locales 9 in all (and maybe some smaller ones). I think The idea of that went something like this....

Well, when you consider what they were "replacing" in terms of Blue Sky announcements, it's understandable why just about anyone would be happy with the updated plans.
I think any plan that replaces Dinosaur is a terrible plan. Mileage may vary on the rest of Dinoland, but I actually think Zootopia is the best of the 4 IPs considered. It’s the only one with animals (albeit anthropomorphic ones).

Zootopia is easily the worst. It doesn't actually feature real animals (the fact that they're highly anthropomorphic is one of the reasons it's worse than other options -- Robin Hood would be an awful addition for similar reasons) and it's based around a modern, urban setting. All of the other options at least have settings that are conducive to focusing on actual animals and nature even if none of them are especially ideal.

They have Lion King, Jungle Book, and even Finding Nemo just sitting there unutilized (or at least underutilized) too.

It's ridiculous that Jungle Book, one of the most consistently popular Disney titles of all time, has barely been used in a Disney theme park all about animals and jungles for the past 25 years.

That they would consider Encanto, Moana, Zootopia or Coco first shows their recency bias.

I think Lion King is right there with it -- I realize they do have Festival of the Lion King, but other than the use of Lion King songs it didn't feel especially connected to the IP to me.

I always thought it was meant to be deliberately abstract and interpretive, as opposed to a literal translation of the characters and scenes like in the Magic Kingdom show, which for a few years was running at the same time.

I agree that it is weird that Jungle Book has not been used, especially after the excellent “live action” version (IMHO the only live action remake that surpasses the original).

But I do wonder whether the current climate at Disney might discourage Jungle Book due to Rudyard Kipling being somewhat controversial
