 Hi. My husband worked for GM a lot of yrs. so we used his ID to get into the lounge a lot. It used to be when you get to TT, go to the right just past the single line, I think, and theres a door. go in the door and then theres a buzzer to push. when the girl comes on, tell them you are a GM employee or have an ID. she will open the door to an elevator and you come out in the lounge. they have punch there and you can sit as long as you like. theres a beautiful view of the park. also, you can see some of TT running. then, when youre ready to ride, you go back to an elevator and out this door and you are almost the next ones to ride. was very cool. dont know if they do that any more or not. my husband had to show his work ID badge. hope this helps. have a magical trip. next trip to the world...Jan. 2007. yaaaay!:sohappy:

Thanks Eyoree. That's what I was looking for. Enjoy your next trip, too.

That's the way I feel about Horizons. :(
I feel the same way about Horizons, too, I just didn't mention it because we were on the topic of World of Motion.

I do believe that I would give up a trip to see them both.

For the people that have actually gone in the GM Lounge in Test Track, what part of the ride did you get to see?
The back of the lounge opens up to a bank of windows which overlook the entire interior of the attraction...(the brake tests, environmental chambers, and the part with the fake cutout pine trees, etc.)... Any passenger in a TT car can, without craning his or her neck too much, get a glimpse of these windows, which are usually lit.

The front of the lounge obviously overlooks Future World—the windows are immediately above the FastPass and Standby entrances.

I'll ask my dad to call tonight, and I'll let you know what they say.

I hope I end up being able to visit the lounge, too, and once again, thank you very much!

Does anyone know who to call or where to find information for the GM lounge? My dad is a GM retiree, but unfortunately is not able to make this trip. Are we (my immediate family and I) eligible for entry to the lounge?

Any help anyone can provide would be appreciated! Thanks!

(Two more weeks! :sohappy: )

My dad is calling GM today, but also doesn't know exactly where to call. Once he figures it out and gets in touch with them, I'd be glad to share the same information with you that they give to us.

Heck, I would be happy just to go to the front of the line! Maybe I need to talk to my dad so he can go work for GM!

I would give up a lot to see Epcot in its heyday.

I've seen these windows. I always pay attention to the one by the break test, looking to see if anybody's watching. If I had access to the corporate lounge, I'ld always be in one of those windows watching the ride.

GM Employee Access

We just went this past week to WDW/Epcot and as a GM employee, all you have to do is go into Test Track via the Exit and talk to the person setting at the information desk (in the room with all of the GM product on display).

Have your GM ID with you and tell them that you are an employee. They will take you up to the employee lounge (It was closed for us as we were in Epcot on a weekend so we could only go to the front of the line) and they will write you a hand written fast pass with the number of guests you have on it and you can then walk up the exit ramp (follow the yellow arrows up the exit ramp until you get to the end) and they will take the pass from you there and load you and your party on the ride instantly.

More info...

Here's some information from the Intranet here at GM I just came across:

This coming spring will mark the eight-year anniversary of Test Track presented by General Motors at Walt Disney World's Epcot. While many attractions see a decline in popularity after a period of time, Test Track continues to be one of the most popular rides at Epcot with wait times often in excess of an hour.

Fortunately for GM employees, retirees, and their accompanied guests, they do not have to wait in such a long line. The GM V.I.P. Lounge, located on the top floor within the Test Track pavilion, affords members of the GM family a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy a beverage while taking a brief break from the park. Make sure to bring your camera because the V.I.P. Lounge offers one of the most spectacular views anywhere in Epcot.

Most importantly, all V.I. P. visitors have the opportunity to receive priority entrance on to the ride which takes visitors on a behind-the-scenes experience of General Motors' proving grounds environments. To date, over 32,000,000 visitors from around the world have had a chance to experience Test Track, including over 200,000 members of the GM family.

In addition to access to the GM V.I. P. Lounge, General Motors and the Walt Disney World Company have teamed up to offer all employees and retirees an opportunity to purchase theme park tickets at a 12% discount off the regular admission prices. Information pertaining to the Walt Disney World Discount Ticket Offer can be found under the eForms Library on Socrates. (A 12% discount is also offered at Disneyland located in Anaheim, CA). If you do not have access to Socrates or if you have any questions regarding the offer, please contact the Test Track office at 407-827-7020.

To gain entry to the lounge, visitors must show GM-issued identification. A GM retiree id card or a health insurance card with General Motors clearly stated on it will suffice if an employee or retiree does not have a location-issued identification card. A business card or pension stub and a driver's license are also acceptable.

The GM V.I.P. Lounge is open Monday through Friday (including most holidays), from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. throughout the year.

Thanks for the update, jellis!

Does it say whether the retiree/employee needs to actually be present to gain entry? In other words, can they give some kind of ID to someone in their immediate family to use in their absence?

Nope, no mention of that, sorry... You may want to call the Test Track office at (407) 827-7020 and ask them there. That may be your best bet.
