EMH Hours

I've read some sites that say not to hit the particular park the day the EMH's are taking place. Is this just the morning EMH or the evening as well? Should you avoid that park all together on that day, or just the opening or closing times?

We will have a 4 year old and will be staying at the CR (early June) so most days we will be heading back to the hotel for a nap/relaxation. So should we plan to pick a park that does not have EMH for the morning, then after naptime go to a park that does have evening EMH? Or stay away from those parks no matter what?

Thanks for any advice/input.

Well every day there is either a morning EMH or evening EMH. So you can't on one day skip the morning and go to the evening.
I prefer evening EMH because 1. I'm a night person, and B. I love the parks at night. Usually after the first hour or so of evening EMH, the crowds dwindle down, but with a 4 year old, I don't how late you'll want to stay. You may want to hit the morning EMH (you can get a lot done in that hour) then hop over to another park after your nap.

Sooo basically I'm recommending exactly what you said but backwards

Morning EMH are great IF...

...you actually arrive at opening. It seems that alot of people do not like to get up early enough to arrive at a park by 8am, so that first hour seemed alot emptier when we went than the EMH at night.

I agree with jillC LI on this one. At 8am, most people where still fighting it out in the food courts - I parks were virtually empty and you can get quite a lot done in MK during that hour.

Parks seemed to be busier if they had an EMH going on that night.
We were in MGM Sunday and that was their evening EMH hours day and it was the busiest park we were in during our stay!

What I thought was the rules to go by in the past seems to have changed.

It used to be that you should skip the parks with the morning EMH because the thought was that young famlies would be getting up early and going to that park and just staying the day because often people did not have park hopping tickets.

I think the situation has changed. A lot more people are being upsold onto hoppers these days. So the old thought pattern is really out the window because more guests are able to take advantage of early and late EMH. I agree with the other posters as well that this may have had the effect of people that used to get up way early for EMH are staying in bed or at the resort because they know they can hop and take advantage of late EMH.

I always feel like the parks are most empty early. So my advice is if you really feel good about getting up early go for the early EMH or better yet get to the parks without the early EMH right at opening. Then in the evening hop to the late EMH if you feel like it. We went to a late EMH in MK this past Sept. and it was a total zoo. I was kind of disappointed because I normally felt like EMH in the evening were a lot less crowded but it was the opposite this time. I think people came flooding in from other parks for these.

Good luck deciding.
