EMH Changed!! Had Plans

Can't believe they changed EMH for July at MK. Had set up BOG dinner for Sunday night and then spend last night at MK with EMH. Now changed to Saturday Night. My last conference day is Sunday morning so I guess it might be a late nite on Saturday. Had everything planned pretty good. Nice monkey wrench. Thanks Disney

Are you park hopping? If so, you could always head to MK after tour afternoon/evening plans on Saturday in addition to going there for you ADR on Sunday. Or, conversely, you may find that the park is less crowded the day after EMH, so you might actually come out better to not worry about it so much. We had fully planned to take advantage of those late night MK EMH as well, and we only lasted for about the first 30 minutes or so lol. The park gets pretty slow after Wishes anyway so you may be surprised how much you can do between then and park closing.

Not happy about this...Evening EMH at MK has been Sunday for a long time. And Evening EMH at Epcot was Tuesday for a long time too. They should not change it so close to the dates, when they KNOW people have booked their trips, ADR's and FP+ reservations accordingly. More advance notice of park hour changes would be nice.

All - PAY ATTENTION TO THIS. It has SIGNIFICANT impact during the XMAS Holiday season.....

"Extended Park Hours" my butt.... the MK has been slashed: MANY more 7PM closings. I believe WDW is trying to mildly extend EPCOT and HS, then sneak in a few more XMAS parties at MK....

Fortunately? We were not affected. But check YOUR schedule. I have to comment - capricious changes of this nature make a joke of 180 day planning.
During the Xmas season, starting Dec 21, MK is open until at least 11 every night, with morning EMH every day and evening EMH 2-3 days per week. Epcot goes from 9 pm closing, to 9:30 to 10:00 to 10:30. DHS is at least 8. Only DAK has early closing still, with closings at 5 most nights.

Closing the most popular park (MK) at 7:00 pm during the busiest time of the year is insane and certainly not fair to the people who were expecting it to be open later. If it's to stick more hard tickets Chrismas Parties in the schedule, it's just corporate pocket picking at its best.

Wait, can someone clarify for me? I'm coming early July and July 3rd (a Thursday) is still an evening EMH, and it's been that way since 60 days out.

Ok... something else about this still doesn't add up. Is it really just to add more hard ticket events? From the list @PrincessNelly_NJ posted, it looked like all of the changes involve moving AK and MK EMH, but it doesn't really look like much is being eliminated altogether. So it's not like this is saving them any money really... at least that I can see.

I do agree this is pretty tacky though. They should have definitely made the changes effective 60 days out so people could plan better.

ETA : oops! Her post was in a different thread. I got confused because it was the same topic lol

Ummm...
There are 12 Christmas Parties (and thus 7pm MK closings) scheduled between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
There were 12 Christmas Parties scheduled between Thanskgiving and Christmas last year.

In fact, these are *reductions* from 2012 when they squeezed in *16* parties thanks to an early Thanksgiving...

I'm sorry, but your "Disney has slashed hours to fit in more Parties" does not add up.

Yes, it's the "holiday season", but early December crowds are *not* the same as late-December crowds. Oh, and expect to see those 10pm Saturday MK closings to become midnight or 1am closings as December gets closer.

Edit: Though I do agree that shuffling of EMH for dates in the next month or two is quite odd and out-of-character for their practices. Typically it's just extending park hours, perhaps adding an extra parade (though even then it sometimes messed people up because they push fireworks and stuff later)

I agree with Tom! Now that Disney makes you plan everything with ADR's and FP+ to change the hours this late doesn't seem right. What's the use of figuring out your ADR's depending on park hours and planning what park you want to be in. Looking at my plans it shouldn't affect them too bad except staying up late on Saturday at MK and being a little tired for my last day of my conference. just wondering why they would change the hours this late!! Just venting since I spent a lot of time figuring out our schedule since only park hopping for 3 days. HMMM.. going to Universal after DW for 3 days.... lets see the difference.

I know what you mean. Disney makes it were you have to do ressie so far in advance. Then they take them away. We had to change ours today because of this. I'm not a happy , but what can you do

It unfortunate that the changes couldn't have been made sooner, but no matter what, they could change any time during the year and it would still have an effect on different people's vacation...

True, but if they made changes that didn't take affect until 61+ days out, nobody would have to change existing FP+. And if they made changes that didn't take affect until 181+ days out, nobody would have to change existing ADRs.

They change park hours all the time, and that's not usually a big deal. Especially since most of the time they're extending hours. But with everything being so structured these days, and almost requiring guests to pre-book everything, they need to understand that drastic changes to their schedules should at least be pushed out 61+ days.
