Oh man, don't give them any ideas!Still early days of MoCap, would be leaps and bounds better quality if they redid it today.

They just had a $2.3B MoCap movie, so the point still stands. But they aren't redoing Mars Needs Moms so you don't have to worry about that.Oh man, don't give them any ideas!
Avatar was all MoCap and looked 1000x better than the tech Disney used on Mars Needs Moms and A Christmas Carol. It came out years before MNM.They just had a $2.3B MoCap movie, so the point still stands. But they aren't redoing Mars Needs Moms so you don't have to worry about that.
First I don't know why we're really arguing this as all I said was it still considered early days of MoCap back when MNM came out.Avatar was all MoCap and looked 1000x better than the tech Disney used on Mars Needs Moms and A Christmas Carol. It came out years before MNM.
Yeah, the biggest issue with MNM IMHO was the terrible uncanny valley MoCap (not just that film but Polar Express, Beowulf, etc). If you want something to be animated, just animate it. No idea if Elio will be any good, but this looks a thousand times better than that. That movie would have been better if it DID look like Elio.
Well, Elemental maybe a flop, but based on this tweet: There’s hope for Pixar after all.
They use animatics, story reels and incomplete animation. The famous screening of Beauty and the Beast at the New York Film Festival was a “work in progress”.How did they do that? Is there enough of it to do test screenings? It isn't scheduled for release until next March.
No need to be a doom and gloomer. The test screenings won't matter. Elemental is generally well-liked by the people who have actually seen it, yet it still flopped.
Humans being judged/on-trial by superior aliens has been a staple of Sci-Fi since its inception.Am I right in thinking this will be a Pixar version of that one 1990's Star Trek episode where Captain Picard is put on trial to defend all of humanity?
Ladled with a preachy "But humans are kind of bad, and don't ever forget it" sub-plot. Per the "storytellers" in HR.
Looks kind of dumb, so far. Let's hope they release another trailer soon to build buzz to help move on fast from Elemental's flop.

I suppose. But my mind went first to that Captain Picard episode. Then a few old Twilight Zone episodes.
I guess the twist on this one is that the person on trial is a loveable, spunky kid?
And Titanic's twist is that its a disaster movie on a boat.
It's just The Unsinkable Molly Brown without musical numbers.Or just Poseidon Adventure with better fashion and prettier stars?
