Amazing.. They did a truncated one while the rest were getting fixed..

(I too saw them when staging.. Right next to the Parade warehouse.. which you can see part of in that photo too....) Interresting seeing them up close about 75 feet away during the day...

The assembly and changing area for visiting marching bands as a part of Magic Music Days is immediately right of frame. As a result, I was able to get a nice, up close look at the EWP barges. Unfortunately, I think I was about the only one in the group that knew what they were. If I remember correctly, the central panel that has all of the lights on it is essentially a big panel of chain link fence material. And, yes, this is behind Splash and Pirates. In between (more or less) is parade float storage.

I got the exact same opportunity. We wen't down for our band trip this past Feb. and was able to get right up to the floats. Very cool to see up close. My friends had no idea what they were so obviously I had to explain. :lol:

Does anyone know where they store the barges during the day??

You can see them from the monorail between The Grand Floridian and the Magic Kingdom.

Took a good look at the barges today. There are eleven in the canal, but two of them are somewhat bent out of shape.

To my knowledge the pageant was introduced in Oct, 1971 in celebration of the Poly being dedicated.

Does anyone know if the damaged barges will be fixed or taken out of the show for good? If they are fixing, do you know when they will be back?
