Can anyone agree with me that Grand Fiesta is the only Character enhanced ride Epcot has pulled off so well that grand fiesta is probably just as good as El Rio Di Tiempo.

The only thing that could make Grand Fiesta better than Grand Fiesta would be Anna and Elsa singing "Let It Go."

All Grand Fiesta jokes about it being better, or worse, or existing in the same probability field as Grand Fiesta aside ....

I do not think Grand Fiesta was the same (or better) than Rio de Tiempo. Rio de Tiempo (and it's Tiempo - River of Time, not Rio de Tempo - River of the Sick Beat) had educational and cultural aspects that are glossed over in Grand Fiesta.

Having said that, of all the character overlay rides out there, I do think Grand Fiesta has come the closest to pertaining to the culture the original ride was supposed to represent.

The weird thing is they feature the bird from the USA over the Mexican one...

It’s also El Rio Del Tiempo.

;)

That's right. My Spanish is not the best. If I recall Del means "time all around" as opposed to De which would mean the river was actually made of time. Of course I could be wrong about that. My Spanish is really pretty much only good for ordering beers and asking where the bathroom is (and I got made fun of once for that, apparently the way I say bathroom is very formal and "proper" - but that is how I was taught many many years ago)

This is one of a few that I have to say was better as the original. We used to refer to it as Small World Mexican Style. The song, like Small World would get stuck in your head like a worm and never leave. However, it was worth keeping there. It also could be because, like Walt, I hate Donald Duck.

Gran Fiesta is an infantile video overlay in a bid cheap in execution and mistaken in intent to make El Rio del Tiempo (proper capitalisation now too) more...well....'timeless, relevant, family and Disney' before Phillistinery named itself by that phrase.

But yes, within the bigger scheme of the Epcotalypse it is one of the lesser transgressions.

While I've seen El Rio del Tiempo in previous trips to WDW, the heartstrings take over for me in the many, many experiences I've had on this attraction as the Grand Fiesta Tour with my kids.
I'm addicted to the Grand Fiesta Tour with Donald just because I can look over at my now teenagers and see the wide-eyed wonder and happiness of my little ones - especially the rides they've had with my dad who has passed.
I'll take an infantile video overlay in cheap execution just for the feelings I expect from my years of enjoyment of a WDW attraction.
