El Pirata y el Perico

The place at MK is nice to get tacos from. The best?
No, I agree there. But they are better than Taco Bell.
I also think they are better than Del Taco. But it depends. DT in California is better than DT in Ohio. :( But one thing I have against Don Pablo and Del Taco, is they put cilantro in most everything. And Taco Bell does not. I can't stand cilantro. (I just refer to it as "the nasty c word".) And from what I can recall, the place in Caribbean Plaza does not put the nasty C stuff in their tacos, though their sauce does have traces of it.

Every time I complain about the taco place being closed, they just say "well, it's seasonal". OK, fine. So where else serves tacos when it's closed in MK? No other place does. They need to rectify that, I think!

Even if it's open, it may not be tacos. Last year they were open for a few sporadic periods and had a horribly watered down menu of hamburgers - it had about three entree options in total and none of them were Mexican.

It IS always mexican food, they had a burger menu during a brief period of time because Pecos Bill was closed for refurbishment and lets face it, burgers sell way better than tacos for your typical guest. BTW, they are adding burritos to the menu.

Del Taco blows Taco Bell out of the universe.
Not...possible...

That's your opinion.

You're entitled to have bad taste in tacos.

For fast food, Del Taco has been very good in my experiences in CA, NV and AZ. Certainly worlds better than Taco Hell.

And, yeah, way better and about 80% less costly than this crappy MK 'seasonal' location.
I like a little place called Lime.:lookaroun
Chipotle is better than all of them put together! :ROFLOL:
Ugh...HATE them. Cold, watery food.

Chipotle is owned and operated by the same folks who run McDonalds, and it's about as healthy. Del Taco is OK, but nothing beats Rick's in beautiful Pasadena, California.

Voted best burritos in LA, and they're up for best in the world. Their tacos are as good, if not better! Makes me hungry just thinking about it...

No, it's supposed to be Mexican. But it isn't always. And sometimes - besides during the Pecos refurb - they open it for a few hours a day at lunch time and ONLY offer the three entree menu of a burger, chicken nuggets or a pulled pork sandwich. In fact, the menus often show that when you walk by even when they're closed.

If I am in the mood for such food, I always find that the hundreds of mom-and-pop mexican places do a better job at mexican food than any of the chain restaurants. If I wanted something quick however, Moe's is quite superior i think to the Chipotles. Everything there tastes like lime.

I've never had Del Taco or Chiopotle (and thus never have had a use for Chipotleway) but I did actually just have Taco Bell for lunch.
"Fresco style" is the key.

Anyway, I ate at El Pirata y el Perico a couple years back and was underwhelmed. The dining area is calm enough (and huge!) but the food was pretty bland and uninteresting by taco standards. Too bad they couldn't offer more of a Caribbean twist on the food.

If you've liked the restaurant before, go for it. It's probably going to be one of the least-crowded eateries in the park, but if it were my time would check out the Tomorrowland noodle station simple because it's open less and the food is more unique.

El Pirata y el Perico does have the nicer dining area though, especially if it's nice enough to sit outside. Check out the hidden courtyard:

For someone who loves WDW, you sure do hate it a lot.

I've heard the horrors of taco meat these fast food businesses use...

Word of advice: avoid all taco fast food joints.

Apparently not true anymore. McDonald's doesn't own any of Chipotle today, according to the wikipedia god.

I have actually never seen El Pirata y el Perico open on my numerous trips (unfortunate for me as I have always wanted to try it), but if it isn't open when you go, or even if it is, I would strongly suggest Pecos Bill's for the taco salad. You get the tortilla bowl and meat, and then you get to put your own toppings on it. Even though they don't have jalapenos at the topping bar, this is my favorite place and thing to eat for lunch at MK! I'd give it three thumbs up if I had three!

We love the less crowded dining room, the A/C and it is just a great place to relax. The tacos are what you make of them, it is just a nice change from bugers, fries, and chicken nuggets. There is just something magical to us about this place. :slurp:

Was in the parks today and saw that it was open. Walking by, you could clearly smell a disticnt taco smell that normally isn't there when it isn't open.

yeah, I don't understand suggesting that people actually leave the theme park/resort to go get better tasting food. I just enjoy being in the park and grabbing a quick bite to eat. Something decent and filling, and a place to chill and eat that has a nice atmosphere to it. I'm not there to find the best tasting food in Florida (There are probably better places to eat in your own home town than in WDW). I've got a Fastpass for Space Mountain at 3:00! I gotta eat and run!

That is misleading. Chipotle began as an independent company, but there was a period when McDonald's was a majority shareholder. That is no longer the case. In any case, McDonald's never operated Chipotle in any meaningful way; it was simply a way for McDonald's to diversify via investment.
