Eisner hints at Jack Sparrow in PoTC

It will be ok!

Adding a Jack sparrow AA would not be that bad for Disneyland or WDW. He could just be sitting there in the jail ceil in the shadows watching the prisinors trying to escape, as for Disneyland they have added new stuff to Potc all the time like the pirates shadow fight, new Techinacal AA. To say it is as original as the day it opened it would be false. To add one more AA to the great ride will just be adding to it and to touch hearts to the people who love the ride and the movie!

A few weeks ago I probably would have said something different - but now I say, bring it on. :)

I finally saw PotC last week - and that is a darn fine film! I would have no problem with Jack added at all. Well, I'd rather have a shirtless Orlando Bloom, but that's another thread entirely...

I really think he'd fit in at the end of the ride, and they could take out those two guys sitting on top of each other. Would be very cool to have Jack standing there.

I love Johnny Depp and I love the movie but I really don't want him added to either version of the ride. For some reason I just don't think it would feel right.

Somewhere near the end would be nice. It would be the last thing saw and yes put Bloom and Knightley in also. Whereabouts is the question. It's been many years since I was there (WDW) so I really can't say where I would like it.

Adding one character from the movie will not ruin POTC, but it will help bridge the gap between fans of the ride it garnered over 30 years ago and the new fans of the worldwide phenomenon that was the movie. I always think its odd to hear people say they are adding Johnny Depp. Honestly, assuming it pans out, they would be adding what is perhaps now the most famous Pirate of the Caribbean, Captain Jack Sparrow. That character has become synonomous with the concept of POTC, every bit as much as any of the great scenes and AAs from the ride. Its only seems natural now to expect him in the ride, and I've even heard on two different occasions kids ask their parents where he was after the ride.

The movie was truly a success. Not only for the money it made at the box office, but also for the ability to recreate interest within a growing jaded society for theme park ride created about 30 years ago.

Any new AA is welcome in my book, and Jack Sparrow seems like the perfect choice when/if POTC gets its IASW-style rehab. Any drastic changes though to incorporate the movie I'm much more skeptical about.

Although I can understand wherre many people are coming from when they dont want to harm the proginal Pirates of the Carribean ride especcial in DisneyLand. I would love to see Jack Sparrow in Walt Disney World version. I am a huge Johnny Depp fan and Jack Sparrow and Pirates of the Carribean is my favorite movie of all time. I think Jack is one fo the greatest characters ever to be created for a film. Anyone you talkt o knows who he is and if they add him in at the end it would be a nice surprise for those die hard fans who go on Pirates of the Carriban of hoes of seeing the famous Captain Jack Sparrow but would not ruin the ride for those die hard Pirate of the Carribean ride fans. It could work in eveyones favor. I really cant wai to see an AA Jack Sparrow and would love for Johnny Depp tl be there for the opening of his AA.

I don't get people saying that the movies should be portrayed on the rides because they made a lot of money. If the movies came from the rides, aren't they already being portrayed there? Personally, the only way a Depp AA could work at PotC is if they stick him in the prison scene, as a cameo more than an actual presence. Otherwise pretty soon we'll have Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightley and Geoffrey Rush and that really isn't the point.

Why stop there?

If Johnny Depp is a good idea, then surely this is as as well!

I would love to see a Jack Sparrow AA in POTC as long as it didn't interfere with the ride or anything. But if he's just another pirate in the ride I don't see how it would be a huge deal.

I know this is a little off topic, but I grew up on the west coast and have only been to Disney Land, in a week we are taking our 4 kids to Disney world. Which we are excited about, but POTC is one of my Favorites at disney land, from all the talk here am I gonna be disappointed with the disney world version of it? I was so looking forward to taking my kids on it.

Thanks

People kinda blow it out of proportion, in my opinion. DL's is more linear, you can see it tells a story. MK's is more like a ride through a pirate town, kind of a slide show.

For all the people who say "Don't touch Disneylands" I have a question to ask. Do you think Walt would be happy about that...never adding to the rides...making them museums? Now, no one knows what would would want, but I think he would be happy if they added to the rides, making more people happy. Just think, one AA is not going to make the ride's fans mad and it would bring in all the people who loved the movie. Just my thoughts.

The movie was based on the ride but they are two completelly different. Except for maybe 1 or 2 short clips, nothing from the movie was from the ride. Also, it's not because it made a lot of money, but it made a lot of fans. A movie that makes over $300 million is going to have a lot more fans than a movie that makes $50 million.

So? Where is it written that a famous movie has to become an attraction? The movie is Pirates of the Caribbean. There's already an attraction called Pirates of the Caribbean at DIsneylan, WDW and Disneyland Paris (don't really know about Tokyo). If people really are that dense that they can't figure out the parks came before the movie, when it says so on the screen, then I don't think one AA is gonna help them. You give them Sparrow, they're gonna ask for the others. Pretty soon the ride is telling the story of the whole trilogy. And don't say it's insane because we all know it's happened before.

If they wanna create an extra attraction that goes only at night, to mimic the movie, it's a different thing. But it's pointless to turn the attraction that inspired the movie into the movie's attraction. The inspiration is gone and all you have is a homage of a homage.

Right. If the ride is that classic as to inspire a movie, let's keep both worlds. The movie could EASILY be integrated in the parks without modifying its original inspiration.

The movie is so different from the ride though. In fact, except for the name and the scene with the dog, Disney wanted to deassociate with the movie (so people wouldn't think it was another country bears). There was no castle logo in front of the movie. Comparing the movie with the ride is like comparing apples and pears...both have seeds but they are entirely different. Other than the basic concept of pirates, how is the movie like the ride? One AA is not going to ruin the attraction. Why not add such a character. After all, it wouldn't be a Johny Depp AA, it would be a Jack Sparrow AA...an original charater from Disney.
