Over at the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, John Stamos cavorted with swashbucklers. Disney CEO Michael Eisner hinted that the Pirates ride would soon feature an animatronic character with the face of Johnny Depp, who plays Jack Sparrow in Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

Although this pertains to Disneyland's ride, it perhaps validates the rumors of the AA Figure being added to Florida's PoTC attraction.

I really wish they wouldn't touch the original DL version. But I don't care what they do to WDW's version.

Of course, if the sequals are as popular as the original, you can't really fault Disney for wanting the film represented in the parks. It would just be great if they could leave the original (and vastly superior version at DL) alone.

I agree.. I'm not a fan of seeing Depp in the WDW version, but I'm not fully against it. Don't agree with it being added in both... let's hope to see the Disneyland version fully original. :D

I'd opt for a stage show in DCA and Disney-MGM instead . . .

A stage show or even a thrill ride would be great in those parks. Doubt it would happen, but we'll have to wait and see.

This is fabulous news!!! A Depp animatronic would be fantastic... wow I would ride that ride over and over again until I saw him. Disney should start selling POTC merchindise with Depp's face... I can't find ANYTHING here. Cursed Canda!

Here's to hoping the AA is for WDW first (if it does happen). I am all for keeping DL the best and the original. Unless it is a huge success and amazing addition, then I personally don't want to see a Depp AA anywhere near POTC in Disneyland. :D

Wow, POTC would make a phenominal stunt show... lol but all recent rumors have pointed to minimizing the stunt shows in MGM rather than adding yet another... ohwell. An awesome idea nonetheless.

Why not put him in one of the dungeons in the cue and have him say things to you as you walk by. He'd be a part of the ride and still not being in the ride, which would probally statisfy most people.

The POTC Store at the MK is now selling an 18inch tall toy of Jack Sparrow that is pseudo Anamitronic for about $40-60 dollars. (I cant remember which)

Now *that* is an interesting idea that I hadn't thought of. That could make a killer show. Lots of swordsplay, rope-swinging, and pyro. I'm not a big 'shows' person but that would get me in the seats.

As to the POTC thing, I would have absolutely no problem with Sparrow being in the WDW ride. I do think that DL should stay 'pure', so to speak. I felt the same way about their Tiki room. I think DL has the luxury of having a huge base of dedicated, return visitors. They don't have to constantly tweak things to keep people coming in from out-of-state. They do have to update parades and things, and add new attractions, but the old classics can stay as-is and still pull in numbers.

Excellent idea. That would be something to keep your attention with all the action scenes. I would be there for sure if Johnny himself would make an appearance there to introduce the first show. :goodnevil As much as I think Johnny Depp's portrayal of Captain Jack is awesome, I do not want the ride changed for it, though.

I really don't want to see a huge movie tie in. If they do this, I really hope they do it right and don't kill the great attraction they have.

According to Jim Hill, WDW would be getting the Depp AA and for DL, there is a rumored night time version unaffecting the original. (If you don't like Jim, don't complain about him. This is not news, just rumored material from him.)

They better NOT touch my beloved DL version!!!! I will hunt down the perps and make them pay if they do so :fork: :fork: !!! As for the WDW version.... they can go for it I guess. I just dont think its right to touch the original ride for a movie no one will remember fourty years from now. I dont know if I would be pleased to see it at WDW, but I could get used to it, and it wouldnt be something I would be adamantly opposed to. I just hope they keep their paws off my DL version....or else!!!! (jk)

As to a nightime version at DL.... I've also read about it, and it sounds very interesting! As long as the original remains unharmed.... I'd be all for it!

That idea is one of the best one's I heard. I loved it from the moment I read that article. Now if this can actually be pulled off, or even it even has a remote chance of happening are two totally different monsters.

i was not going to say anything because i had no HARD evidence... as in... i haven't seen the animatronic myself. but one of my trainers told me that wdw was FOR SURE getting a jonnie animatronic, and a lot of the sets would be refurbed with new paint and such...

as long as they don't change the ride completely, let them add jonnie. he's popular and a crowd pleaser.

awful....there are ways to update rides without adding celebrities. Can't wait for the boat to ride past the Sparrow AA...an eruption of noise...yelling...talking...moving about...and flashes.
