it wasn't the mnorail in the way... it was the old peoplemover track.. (any news on that?)
and the autopia....

You wouldn't want to take away 2 attractions... and one potential attraction to remove one old one... cheaper to fixup the old one and get more rides set up to get people more disperced in the park...

Here's the current (11-10-04) word from Al at www.miceage.com

"Over in Tomorrowland the submarine voyage story seems to have hit a pothole. After Imagineering (WDI) spent over 900,000 dollars for the engineering studies and underwater show mock-ups in an attempt to impress Eisner into loosening Burbank's purse strings, Eisner still has yet to arrive in Anaheim for his formal Finding Nemo submarine presentation.

The word is now that Eisner couldn't be bothered with the drive down to Orange County in October to check out the remodeled test submarine, and he only wants to come to the park if there's a potential photo op available. It appears that as the price tag for the new ride has crept over 50 Million, it's now solely up to Matt Ouimet to try and scrape together the capital out of existing short term budgets if the project is to get the green light.

While the morale of the WDI team working on the submarine project took a turn for the worse in October, there's still some hope that Ouimet's intense desire for new attractions can keep this bizarrely complex project on track. It's generally agreed that if they don't go with this Finding Nemo remake of the existing submarines that any other major attraction in the lagoon area would have a much, much higher price tag and would likely take years longer to get built."

Bloody hell! I'll fly out to freakin' Cali with my digital camera if Eisner wants his picture taken going on the submarine. Hell, I'll drive him from his office to the park if that's a problem. Get on the ride and either approve it or not, don't just leave everyone hanging like that...

*headdesk*

If this is true, Eisner needs to bend over so I can kick his @$$. Does he not think Disneyland is worth it?!

If this story is giving all the facts, Eisner seems pretty full of himself.

The sub and blue box are no longer....the project has supposedly been put on the shelf and won't be looked at again until the 50th celebration is over.

Not at liberty to give details....

But, from what I am told, Eisner never laid eyes on the thing. He shot it down for petty, political reasons. :brick:

Lets see how many years we can go now with nothing in the lagoon. They may as well take the subs out and scrap them now as they are rusting.

Unfortunaltey, this come as no surprise. When I was at the park yesterday, the sub that's been sitting out by the monorail station for months was gone. :(

Lets hope Matt Ouimet can pull some strings and get this project a green light. Although I've never been to Disneyland, it makes me sad to see such a space being wasted.
