A few days ago it was announced that Eisner and his buds took a look at some protype conecpts inside a sub at Disneyland California's submarine voyage. He approved it! The submarine voyage which opened way back in 1959 and closed in 1998 will be comelety restored/upgraded/updated and will reopen sometime by or in 2007. The new submarine voyage will revovle around the finding Nemo fish and friends and possibly other aquadic life featured in other Disney films on trips to various undersea destinations.

While this is great news for fans of bringing back 'a world on the move' to the disasterious disneyland tomorrowland 1998, I wonder if this new ride will just be another 'Fantasyland East', a tomorrowland just full of characters from films.

Anyhow tying in with WDW, I wonder if Eisner will try and save is view on the public ebfore he goes in 2006. So maybe he very well save or help save the carousel of progress, not that he could give a damn about it, but just to keep his happy little reputation. Makes me wonder when they are going to spend 50 million dollars on a laggon and submarines, and most likely far less money to upgrade and redoe the ending of the carousel of progress if they do save it.

I cannot figure out why they are redoing the DL subs, but yet they take away WDW MK subs. If they are so close to coming up with a new ride ... why tear out our subs!!!! NO VISION maybe ??? or a master plan being played out??

Confused in Ohio :veryconfu

Grizz please help me understand!!!!!

The fact our subs vehicles have been destroyed for about 3 years now, and the simple fact that DL has less capacity than MK. Disneyland's Subs are still working and still there.

Oy vey, Subs were doomed ten years ago when Cast Members "sabotaged" the ride. Eventually, they found that it would be far too expensive to reopen the ride than "it was worth. . . "

Construction on a new area began months ago. . . so expect a garden and new meet and greet in the near future.

I wonder if they will repaint the Subs grey again, or something along the lines of that. Honestly, I kind of found the yellow painted subs out of place. OH GOD WHAT IF THEY PAINT THE SUBS ORANGE WITH BLACK STRIPES LIKE NEMO!!! :hammer: :lookaroun

I'm just worried that by the time this gets done, Nemo won't be so popular. I mean, I love Nemo, and he's definately a very popular little fishie, but 3 years from now, maybe he won't be. That's my only concern. Otherwise, I'm so thrilled that they're doing something constructive with the lagoon.

Could you please share where you heard/saw this announcement. According to today's www.miceage.com update, "there's also Disneyland's worst kept secret; a Finding Nemo version of the Submarine Voyage awaiting formal approval from Eisner and Iger for a spring 2007 opening." Except for someone at www.disneyforever.com posting "The Submarie Voyage is unoffically make a return to Disneyland! Michael Eisner has given the Green Light to BRING THEM BACK!", I can't find a peep about this on any of the Disneyland web sites (www.mouseplanet.com, www.laughingplace.com, Jim Hill's site, or www.mouseinfo.com (except for someone on their board referencing the DisneyForever post)).

Cheers.

That's where I heard it. The person from disneyforever, I found this from a refrence at Visions Fantastic. I mean they seem credible. Someone else there said they were getting an invitiation to see the ride. I mean if this isn't true than shame on them for telling false things. I usually never just blatently post far fetched rumors. I truly feel that this may be true, that Eisner has approved it, but if itsn't true, then we expect around a week from now then for him to approve or not approve the ride.

I'd never seen the DisneyForever site before today, so I don't know how reliable this person is. The posts I've seen of yours made me pretty sure you weren't just making stuff up; it was just the word "announced" that made me wonder. He (Eisner) was certainly scheduled to take a look sometime this month, and it may have happened after hours already. I felt last month, based on how this has developed over the last couple of years, that it's about 85% that it'll be a go. Hopefully something official will push that to 100% before too long.

Cheers.

He is a CM, if I am not mistaken.

This is good news however. :sohappy: Mikey has finally done something good for the first time in years.

I don't agree with cartoon characters in Tomorrowland... but hey, at least the Subs will be back!!

I was fine with the "old version" though...sigh... will Nemo's popularity even last until 2007?

Hey, if Eisner is doing things just to please fans before he's gone, he needs to get the Awful Arm off SE... of course, since newer WDW guidemaps and advertising show SE without the arm, it may be coming down fairly soon.

I think they would have torn out the subs in Caly too if it weren't for the monorail being in the way, so it comes down to using the site as it is or leaving it vacant in an already cozy park.

And besides, I'm still hoping we get TDS 20k clone and JTTCOTE in the 20k site, but many probally feel it wouldn't go with the theme of the land. You know, kinda like buzz and stitch in tomorrowland. :D
