EE - SteamLESS Trains

Well it looks like one of the most finicky effects at the new EE ride seems to be the "Breaking Steam" as the locomotives arrive into the loading station.

Not sure what the issue is...but I haven't seen it work consistantly since the previews have began. I particularly think this effect is very clever as the steam actually is created from pipe lines on the track and pushed through the smoke stack...very clever indeed...

2) If ithasn't already been mentioned...SINGLE RIDER LINE is the way to go right now...70 minute wait yesterday stand by....6 minute wait single....

I rode twice in 15 mins... :p

Speaking to an EE Cast Member this past weekend, he said the effect hasn't been working for about a week or so while they wait for a replacement part to come in... but also that the Cast Members there haven't missed it too much considering the blast of hot steam they get everytime while standing at the rear of the platform.

And yes, I agree- Single rider is a great way to go if you're by yourself or don't mind being split up. (Assuming they're actually offering it at the time of day you're trying to ride.)

They're using actual steam and not fog FX? (probably missed this nugget of trivia in the EE thread.)

I thought that was the coolest effect of the entire attraction!

I hope this gets fixed.
I agree, I think it was great and I was rather disappointed not seeing it on my past few rides.

But speaking of cool effects, I rode EE a few times the other night... Does everyone remember the rumored "snow effect" that had been so often talked about? I think I might have seen it...not sure though.

Like I said, I was riding at night and when we got to the top of the main lift hill it appeared as though there were snow flurries in the air. Couldn't tell if it was just bugs attracted to the bright lights or an actual snow effect- but either way it looked pretty good!

Ya know, I was wondering the same thing about the snow. Were they talking about the mist as you go through the tunnels or is it somewhere different. I never noticed it when I was there for previews but, then again, they were just previews and it hasn't officially opened yet.

As for the "steam" vs. "fog" I would assume it's steam because there is a caution sticker at track level that says, "Caution Hot Steam" or something to that effect. (Granted, it could also just be a sticker to throw people off too  )

Hope it makes a comeback, and it sounds like it if "waiting for a part" is actually true. I can't wait to see this thing up and running this summer (although it will take ALL my imagination to believe I am on a snow-capped peak in that heat!)

Very gooooddd!

Good News about waiting for a part!

I remember when I was "Tech"-ing for Fantasmic! we had to wait for a part for the dragon. Poor dragon....we had no animation from her for three days...

Anyway, ya know after talking about it on here...I am feeling the urge to have a Mummy vs. EE ride day!! but I will take a dunk in blizzard beach first!

I'm pretty sure the "tunnel mist" is one thing and the "snow effect" is another. The "snow effect" (again, could have been bugs attracted to the light lol) appeared to be blowing off of the peaks of the mountain to the right side of the train at the top of the main lift.

It's the real deal... Sit in one of the back few rows and you can feel it as it pulls into the station.

It's real steam, but it's not that hot when it reaches the CMs and guests. (If you're seated in the back you can feel it when you're getting on, it's not hot enough to bother anyone.)

Just telling you what the CM told me...Even at "not that hot" I can see where getting fully engulfed in a cloud of warm (or any temperature for that matter) smoke every minute for about an hour or so at a time could get a bit annoying. Either way, it's a great effect and I hope it is back soon.

Well, at least their costumes will always be wrinkle-free.... :animwink:

For WDI's sake, I hope they built a filter and/or water-softener into the system. I can definitely see sediment or minerals from the Florida water gunking up the works if they didn't...

(And as for the steam/fog question, steam is cheaper in the long-run, especially putting out a blast like that every minute or two. And fog fluid would have an odor to it and coat the inside of the smokestack with an oily residue over time, which probably would be bad dripping onto the track elsewhere.)
