EE Lift Hill Question

Ok, I have seen some pictures of the lift hill of Everest, and there was something that caught my eye...there was a railing on the left side of the track. But all of the other pictures I have seen have no railing. Was it just there when they were building it so people could get up and down the lift hill?

Thanks ahead of time!

hey, it's for emergensie's only (haha spelled that wrong) but when the ride breaks down and the computer knows it, it gets put up, or manually obviously! so yeah it's still there but just for if the ride breaks down

Yes, it's computer controlled and hydrocially activated. It folds down to the same height as the track when not in use, and comes up during an e-stop procedure...even if there is no evacuation called for...if the ride is not in a "normal" mode, the rails come up.

Buzz Lightyear and Primeval Whirl have the same railing systems.

Kinda like the kiddie bumpers at your local bowling alley.

They are a nice little feature to have to keep from hindering the overall theming of the attraction. Primeval Whirl also has them.

I believe Indiana Jones at Disneyland has a similar thing. Their railings, however, come from the roof and lower down to the track.

What theming would they be destroying for Primeval Whirl?

(I must confess to enjoying the ride itself...)

Buzz has it too. Saw them go up a couple of weeks ago but we didn't have to evac. We were stuck in a room for 5 minutes and I racked up a pretty good score with the only "Z" I could choose from since the car would not spin. Then when the rails went back down my score was reset to 0.

Ya...I believe that was when I yelled NOOO!!! at the top of my lungs...who clears my score of 600,000 and I was only 1/2 way through?!?

The railings on California Screamin are not automatic for some reason.

Several attractions feature these handrails, they are nothing new to the Disney Parks.

Dinosaur dosn`t have them - guests remain in place until a set of ladders are brought to them to climb down (an EMV places you quite high)

OK. The thought of having to WALK down that lift hill is enough to do it for me. No more EE for me!

it has railings that pop up at some points in the track...the last time I rode it, it broke down (hydraulic lines in one of the rovers exploded) and the railings popped up the side of the track. My car stopped where the track slopes down under the carnotaurus at the end. You are right that they have little stairs for you to get out, though.

Good point there tirian. :) But in Primeval Whirl's instance, I think they actually have to be down and are activated individually. The cars are pretty wide and get close to them, so they are out of the way to keep little fingers from getting hit.

And I've seen them on Dinosaur as well, but they are in select places as ISTCNavigator57 said, mostly on the hills where a ladder would be difficult to use.

Whoa, I didn't realize my thread was going on so long! These are all very interesting. Does anyone have any pictures of the ones in Dinosaur?

There are no pop up railings at Dinosaur. There are some permanently installed handrails in some sections though.

eh...I'm 90% positive they weren't there normally and only during emergencies...I would think I would see them during the normal ride. Maybe someone needs to take a flash picture on one of the hills to make sure. They could just be well-hidden.
