Sure it's not just an air-vent to keep the hot-side-hot & the cool-side-cool?

Disney uses air-returns (like for air conditioning) many times in attractions to create virtual "walls". Some are used to keep temperatures separated... in this case, I would guess it could be used to keep the mist/fog effect from dissipating too quickly during a train-sequence.
Yeah, thats what I think it is.

I think that thing before the big drop you're talking about is where the cameras are. I saw them last time. I hope they're up and running soon!:D

Expediton Everest is still in soft openings and will be so until its official opening April 7. I have said this numerous times. .I know there are days coming up (don't know exact days) that the ride will not be operating. Also, for those of you wondering about the status of the photo system, it is very close to going live. Can't give exact dates for it but rest assured that it will be running for a while before the official opening.

Also, unless you see something officially announced by Disney, or somewhat confirmed on this site by Steve, or stated by CM's who work the attraction, don't plan on most rumors being true.

I rode it on the 13th of feb. Each day we were in the parks, they said the ride was staying open till 2pm. I'd imagine it's only going to stay open later and later as time goes on.

Does anyone know if the Pal Mickey signals are turned on for Everest yet? I want to go back and ride it again when Pal Mickey says something in the queue.

Rode it on the 18th. Walked on both times with no wait. Great ride. Don't get into the little details like some on here so, for me, it was all about the speed and the thrill.

My parents rode yesterday. Said it was fun, but not spectacular (I think the Yeti might have been in 'B' mode). They also said that in the early afternoon Soarin' was a standby wait of 90 minutes with fastpass return at 8pm. Its amazing how popular that ride is, despite concerns of its 'cloned' status.

Yeah, so what exactly is the problem here? It is officially announced by Disney that the ride is already open on all web sites associated with everest, and they have sent letters to all current visitors explicitely stating that the ride is open. Where exactly has disney left this gray area that people are making up?
