Eating & Drinking around the World

I've seen a picture of those pretzels on a food blog - they look yummy! With getting a pretzel in Germany, I thought I might pass, but now I know to get the karmel korn...so maybe i'll get the pretzel in norway. I wonder if it is "authentic" though? hmmmm....

Most of what they have in the case at the Norway pavillion my grandmother has made at one time or another - except the pretzels.

I have never head of them before. It does not mean they are not authentic, maybe she just never made them :)

They are "sweet" pretzels. More doughy and sweeter than your normal offering.

Thanks for the info! Yeah, this is going to be our bfast, lunch and dinner. And we are there all day including EMH. So hopefully we don't feel too punky by the end. I think my DH could drink around the world - he would be super annoying by the end but I think he could do it. But for me, there is no way. That is why we share a drink and a water at each pavillion. I can't wait to give this a try! :sohappy:

I like the idea of making a page - maybe I will get a little album - take a picture of us, with drink, and food (i always include a flag and a hat too!) and then I can do a blog entry or something fun. :)

Hope you are well!!!

Goood idea making it bfast, lunch & dinner! We had lunch at Akershus and tried to eat & drink around the world for dinner. Just too much w/that big of a lunch. I am like you too, I couldn't make it just drinking in each country - I don't have a great tolerance for alcohol.

We did a picture in each country too, with whatever we were eating & drinking. A hat would be fun too, I love that idea! I might have to do a hat tour on my next trip!

my sister and i did an eat around the world with our daughters before they were old enough to drink so it can be alot of fun. we shared each offering like we like to do during f&w. on one of my more recent trips i'd say one of the apps i really loved was the crab tostadas from la cava and the ham and cheese croissant from the bakery in france. also loved a dark chocolate covered caramel from germany.

I have to have a frozen Margarita in Mexico every trip! There's a beer in Morocco that we love, I think it's Casa or something like that.
The nachos and chicken tacos are pretty good at Cantina.

Love the fish and chips at Yorkshire!

I have the Grey Goose drink in France, along with those chocolate crepes, on my must try list next trip, I just always go straight for that Margarita every trip!!

Enjoy, such a great idea!!

It was so fun! And then mom and I went last May and we didn't eat or drink but just did hats and flags in each country and she has so much fun!! You can have your DD hold a flag in each country! Her first World Tour! :sohappy:

So this is what I have so far:

Mexico - margarita and nachos

Norway - maybe the school bread? something from the bakery case and I think we had a Norwegian beer there before.

China - ?

Germany - pretzel and caramel corn (DH will probably get brat) and beer!

Italy - gelato and wine?

United States - funnel cake and beer

Japan - ? (we don't do sushi)

Morocco - ?

France - grand marnier slushie and crepes

United Kingdom - fish and chips and beer

Canada - beer and ???

So we need some food and drink suggestions for Morocco, Japan, and China and food in Canada.

Love the suggestions! Thank you!!! Keep them comign! :sohappy:

Mexico - margarita and nachos Make sure you get the margarita from inside in La Cava. They are a little more expensive than what's available outside, but they are well worth the difference.

Norway - maybe the school bread? something from the bakery case and I think we had a Norwegian beer there before.

China - China is a tough one. The drinks there aren't very good, in my opinion. They are pretty much all way too sweet. I guess I'd recommend stopping by Joy of Tea and getting a Canto Loopy or a Mango Gingerita. They are unfortunately not as refreshing as they sound, but they do taste good. While you're there, get the BBQ pork buns to go with whatever you get. Those are actually pretty good.

Germany - pretzel and caramel corn (DH will probably get brat) and beer!

Italy - gelato and wine? The kiosk outside of the pavilion by the donkey cart serves an Italian Margarita. It's grappa, limoncello and sour mix. It's delicious.

United States - funnel cake and beer

Japan - ? (we don't do sushi) There's a sake bar inside the pavilion, all the way in the back of the gift shop. You can pony up a few bucks and taste all kinds of sake and plum wine. It's a unique experience in the park experience and the bartenders are always fun and helpful.

Morocco - Casa Beer is the only thing I can recommend here. The Sultan Colada is pretty gross, and it's really the only original mixed drink in the pavilion that you can get without sitting down for a meal. As far as food is concerned, I guess just go into the Tangerine Cafe and pick out a plate of whatever looks good.

France - grand marnier slushie and crepes

United Kingdom - fish and chips and beer If you can find a good spot, make sure to stop into the pub and belly up to the bar for your drinks in the UK. It's one of the best drinking spots on property.

Canada - beer and ??? You know, there's really not much available in the way of quick food in Canada. You may have to just make this a Moosehead or Torontopolitan stop and move on, unless you feel like sitting down for a meal in Le Cellier

Thanks!!!!

I couldn't recall anything in Canada other then the beer and popcorn cart either. Our first few trips, we did the TS at Le Cellier but since moving to a dinner signature experience, we skip it.

And yes, we usually end up at the bar in the UK - we actually go from France to Canada so we end in the UK

Eating and drinking around the world

Margaritas in Mexico, Citron slush in France, Creme Brule in France ( so rich it is a meal in it's self), the candy in Japan....fun and different and a great souvenier, anything dessert wise in Italy. Personally,if I am on vacation it all tastes good!:sohappy:

China - The kiosk in front of China has this really good curry chicken pocket thing. It's in puff pastry & I don't know how authenic it is - but I love it. I crave it. I've had the BBQ buns & didn't find them as good. This stand also has eggrolls that are a little more mainstream.

Japan - The Mitsukoshi Dept. store has all kinds of interesting snacks in the room in the back. If you don't like sushi, there might be something you'd be willing to give a try for a snack back there. I'm partial to shrimp chips myself. (Not as weird as they sound, honest.) There's also a sake bar in the same room. Additionally, the quick service resturant has a really tasty curry dish. No sushi involved.

Morroco - My husband & I share a lamb platter in Morocco often. We really like it. (lamb gyro, cous cous, tabouleh, hummus & bread) I've also had the vegetarian platter & really enjoyed it. (cous cous, hummus, tabouleh, lentil salad, marinated olives, falafel, & bread). They have a "slider" platter that intrigues me, but haven't convinced the husband to give this a whirl yet. Sharing a entree here is a great snack, if not a meal. (I tend to eat smaller meals, so this works for me, but it might be a snack for a lot of folks.)

I will also say that I've had 3 or 4 of the different appetizers in the Cava de Tequilla & they were all great.

Have a good time!

Thanks for the suggestions! I didn't even think about just grabbing a snack - like a candy or something - from inside the Japan store. That is a great idea!

My husband and I drank/ate around the world last September. We are not big drinkers, so it took us two days even sharing drinks, but it was a lot of fun. My favorite thing to do was get our drink and then get a picture with the country in the background. My favorite drink was Beaujolais Villages wine in France and a red wine flight in Italy. Margaritas were great in Mexico as well. My favorite snack was definitely the chocolate covered salted caramel from Germany. Amazing!!! We also ended up in Canada for a while sitting and talking to a wonderful British couple that were doing the same thing and it made for a great memory of our trip.

We do photos too - only with a hat from the country and holding the flag too! hee hee I think this is going to be a super fun way to just stroll and enjoy everything about each country!
