Eating at Kona Cafe

First of all, you don't need to be staying at a disney resort to use the monorail.

Second, do you really need reservations to eat at Kona Cafe?(for my own curiosity)

yes, you need them for just about all table service places since the dining plan became so popular.

Oh yeah. We went the 1st week of December and you should've seen how many people were waiting to be seated. It was very very busy. I definitely would recommend ADRs for it. Trust me, it was quite worth it. The coffee was great and the food was wonderful.

Well I figured that but just seemed to me like Kona cafe wasn't a "high traffic" restaurant.

Sad that you can't just go to some of these places...

The name doesn't sound like a "high traffic" place but when I was there 2 weeks ago for dinner (8:00 PM), it was crowded. Lucky I had made prior reservations.

we had ressies at the biergarte late one evening, but decided to call it an early night. m:s would be why. but, later that night after feeling better we walked up to kona cafe to try to eat. no room. booked all night! i was shocked. im not sure that ressies are totally necessary for breakfast, as it was slooow when we went, but for any other meal they defnatly would be!

It really isn't high traffic for breakfast. I've gone in there for breakfast before and been the only one in there. So I wouldn't worry about needing a reservation for there for any meal except dinner.
