By the way, does anyone know if WDW is offering Easter morning church services at the Contemporary or Polynesian as it has in the past? (I really liked the regular services that they had in the Luau Cove in the past, too.) The same incentives (like Magical Express) that entice people to come to WDW and let Disney be their sole transportation, also make it hard for people to go to church outside of WDW.

Yes. The Catholic Mass will be from 8:30-10 at the Contempory and the Protestant Service will be at 9, also at the Contemporary.

I also remember the Sunday morning services at Luau Cove—lovely, outdoor venue for services, with an easy ride on the monorail to get there.

About 5 years ago, I stayed on property at WDW, and the on-site services were no longer available on Sunday mornings. I didn't have a car, so I took a taxi to Mary Queen of the Universe church, Orlando (which supposedly was the closest). R-trip taxi fare, (with traffic conditions, and tip, etc.), came to approx. $45. This convinced me to never take my vacation starting on a weekend again!

I think the only time church services are offered on site anymore are just for Easter, and I think maybe, Christmas, but I'm not sure. And, as others have mentioned, the location was moved to the Contemporary for these special occasions.

Was at epcot again yesterday. Again crowds were lower than I would expect. No real lines at any of the food booths around the showcase either. Of course soarins fps were hard to come by after 11, but test track was available into the afternoon.

Yeah - sounds like Easter was too late for most school spring breaks.

Doesn't sound like there were phased closings today. Were there phased closings last year on the day before Easter?

Thoughts on the crowd levels for next week? Supposedly my family from NY has Spring Break that week, and they're coming down to The World to visit.

Definitely will be busy. How bad can probably be judged by today, if closings today, expect them early week. If not, bad, but not horrific, crowds.

Having gone the very last week of april for several years now I can attest a bit that the crowds are pretty manageable, all the spring breakers are gone by then and easter is over.
I won't go as far to say its dead this time but its the perfect week we have chosen year after year for crowd management.

Yes, crowds are predicted to be LOWER this Easter week compared to last week. Also, MK night parades/fireworks are back to normal *YEA!*...Parade 9pm/Fireworks 10pm/Parade 11pm.

So no phased closing this year. Epcot was totally manageable and downright enjoyable today! Mk was nice too! Perhaps the weather had something to do with it.

DHS was dead for Easter Sunday as well. Never saw TSMM higher than 70 minutes, RnRC highest I saw was 60 minutes, but it was 40 most of the day. Star Tours was at 10, GMR at 10, etc.

It felt crowded-ish, but the lines were easy.

Thanks. I loved the old services at the Luau Cove, and as I remember they took up an offering that went to a local homeless shelter. There was a rotating set of ministers, I think, who did it. Beautiful venue, and a nice time for it.

I know that when they stopped they said was because services were offered offsite, and that no everyone could be accommodated, but I think since getting off site can be a task (and not to mention Disney's favorite reason for keeping you onsite, that it can also lead to you considering other things while outside), it would seem to me to be reasonable to allow them again at the Luau Cove. It didn't take any cost for Disney that I could see, and ran smoothly for all those years. It was all volunteer, from what I understood. Seems like a nice service for guests to me. (Even other faiths who might want to do the same thing, as long as the venue is available as it is in mornings.) I am sure people ate or bought souvenirs also at the Poly after the service...
