Early Nov booked solid at Poly-why?

Hi (new here), I just called CRO for a room only ressie at the Poly (Nov 6-12) and was told it's booked solid. The only room available that he offered me was a luxury suite at $2300 per night-I laughed at the agent.

I asked him why since pre-Thanksgiving November has always been a slow time for me when I visited WDW. The agent did not know-said no special events during that period. Does anyone out there have some insight on this?

That does seem a little odd. It's a great resort, and probably the most enjoyable of all the Monorail resorts. But you'd think there'd be something available there during that time.

I know that the NJ schools have a vey short week of school since national election is the 4th and teacher's convention is 6th and 7th. ( we usually have only 2 days for teacher convention nut since it is a national election they give us an entire day on that Tuesday and the Thursday and Friday of that week leaving the kids with only a two day school week) Many of NJ folks tend to visit disney this week so maybe people are extending their vacarion. (I know for a fact this is a huge disney week for NJ as I am a teacher and I usually minimum 3 kids from my class of 20ish that get away to wdw. Makes me so jealous that I have to stay and work those two days!!!)

Hey, there! I think I may have an answer for you (or at least one that makes a little bit of sense)....

The schools here in Jersey are closed for the majority of that week and Monday of the next. Many people refer to that time in Orlando as "Jersey Week". We are closed due to the NJEA conference and, because most people are not me and prefer not to take their kids out of school, they take them that week.

Now, I'm not saying the entire State is booking up the Poly, but it could be part of the explanation. OK, enough with my rambling.....good luck with your ressies!

Definately, jersey week. I am a veteran Jersey week participant, and if I didn't work in a guidance office and have to get senior applications to colleges out, I'd be there too. We are actually still booked at All Star Movies, but we are going to have to cancel.

I am a teacher in Illinois and our district is also having conferences that week. I usually have a few students who head to Disney during conference week also. This may be happening in a lot of districts around the country.

Leave it to Jersey to ruin a whole week at Disney!!!!

Can't you all just go to the Shore or something?????

Uugh...I live at the shore and I don't even go there in the summer!

And I totally agree...when the Jersey folk got there on the Thursday of the convention, our vaction was over at that point. There's nothing more annoying to someone from Jersey than to run into thousands of other people with an attitude!

Polynesian seems to become more popular again. For years I didn't find it in our travel catalogues and now it is mentioned again in most of them while Wilderness Lodge is missing.
