Early June or Late August?

I couldn't find a thread along these lines. We are planning a trip the last 10 days of August 2015. We can do this because our school does not resume until after Labor Day. Our friends can't go then and want us to go with them early June.

We figured lower crowds late August and it looks cheaper. We would love to go with them, but is it worth it?

I am asking for general opinions regarding the better time due to crowds, weather, price, etc.

I think the room rates are a bit cheaper in late August. I've never been in June. I went for memorial day this year which is late May and the rates were discounted and the crowds manageable and the heat index also manageable.

I've been in early August and it is crowded and hot. Rates for rooms also discounted.

We are taking a late August trip this year because of weddings and other family things so I will find out how late August crowds and the heat index compares to early August. Rates are about what I paid last year in early August.

I would assume late August would have more hot days than early June, and less crowds since the kiddos for the most part are resuming school.

My favorite time to visit WDW is Thanksgiving week, when of course it is crowded but all the Christmas decorations are on display and the weather is great. I also LOVE March for the weather. I did Easter one year and that was great weather. From May to mid October it is hot. We manage by doing park time at night and pool time in the afternoon and we sleep in mornings. So summer vacations are fun too.

I guess for me, any time at WDW is a great vacation....sorry not much help here.

We go 14 days around May 28-June 10 give or take a few days. We have been in August as well. There are cost savings and occasionally free dining benefits to going in August. Mid/late August can see crowd numbers a bit lower due to school approaching. That being said, crowds are manageable in June for a traveler who plans, and the heat and humidity aren't nearly as bad. You will get some precipitation in June you may not see in August but it cuts down the crowds if it lasts more than 40 minutes or so and doesn't really effect our experience. I'm from the Midwest and have been stationed in Central America in the military. I will put Florida's August heat and humidity up against the best of them. There is a reason we have only gone in August once and we hit the late May/ early June timeframe annually.

For lower crowds, late August. We experienced pretty low crowds at that time of year, however it was also one of the hottest vacations I've ever been on. We tried to alternate indoor & outdoor attractions, and drank lots of water!

Seems that by early June many high schools and many colleges are already out on break, whereas most of them are back by early August. There are some schools, conversely, that are open until late June but don't reopen until after Labor Day like your district. Odds are better you'll experience lower crowds in late August versus early June. YMMV

We prefer June due to manageable crowds and temps (as opposed to July when the tour groups show up). I've never been in August, but I'd imagine the crowds would be less, but the weather much hotter.

We've done both. Early June seems to be rainier, although the summer months get a good amount of rain generally. August is more humid, although that is relative. Crowds are much lighter in August IMHO. We visited in July this year for the first time in many years and we really saw the difference in crowd levels, which we've managed to avoid with our August visits for the most part. I think you still see at least moderate crowds on weekends in August due to the locals and school visits (Epcot, which absorbs crowds pretty well anyway).

This is our 4th time going late August. Our kids also don;t go back to school until after Labor Day so it works out perfect. Yes it's hot but knowing it's going to be hot helps in the preparation. We always say we'll take the heat over the crowds
