DVC perks on DCL

We are doing a cruise in February, our first since joining the DVC, just wondering if there are any perks for members on board

You'll get a DVC member door magnet, an invitation to embarkation day Member Gathering with a free cocktail (alcoholic or non-alcoholic, depending on your preference) and the opportunity to win prizes, and depending on the length of your cruise, a DVC Member Mixer on 7 night sailings. Also, stop by the DVC desk for a free gift for each person in your stateroom. Sometimes a limited edition pin, lately a DCL-exclusive DVC ballcap.

Is this just of you booked the cruise on points or do DVC members who pay cash qualify as well?

You also get the chance to go to a DVC sales pitch, and sometimes there are some decent discounts.

So if you were looking to add on at Riviera, for example, it may be an option. Although I feel it’ll probably be too early. OTOH, if they have released pricing by then, they might offer some kind of deal.

But you have to buy at least 100 right?
The minimum point purchase for incentives can vary from promotion to promotion. As long as you purchase the minimum required for the incentives, they will be extended to you regardless of how your original points were purchased.

Yes, you become a full member if you purchase 75 points direct. That’s the current threshold. Now it might be that the incentives on the cruise are only applicable if you buy 100, or 150. But you can buy the minimum direct at any point to become a full member.

I wish I could have gotten in on that 25 point add on, ah, maybe down the line they will offer it again limited time, my guess when the cost of a single point hits around $300 lol!

By bennies, are you referring to addon incentives, IE discounts or bonus points? Or are you referring to freebies and discounts on merch and access to parties? Addon incentives should be applicable regardless of where you initially bought points, as long as you are buying enough to meet the incentive threshhold. IE sometimes you get X discount if you buy 100 points, Y discount if you buy 250, and Z if you buy 500. If you are referring to the other member benefits, you need to buy enough points direct to be granted full member status. As @nickys pointed out, it's currently 75 points direct. After that, you get the blue member card and can get discounts, attend events, etc.

For most members, they seem to know you are onboard. One day we came back to our cabin and saw that many doors had a DVC magnet. We didn't have one. I stopped at the desk and they apologized and gave us one. We also got some ball caps and lanyards. They said that sometimes people can be excluded if your middle name is on the deed, but on the DCL reservation (or something).

We took advantage of the 10% off merchandise purchase (when spending over $50).

We also attended a DVC informational meeting and got an exclusive Copper Creek pin. After that, we did an add-on. The offers on ship were better than any we had seen on land. So, it can be a good time to add on direct if you are thinking about that.
