DVC Incentives

Hi Everyone, I have been reading the different forums for a while now and I finally decided to join.

I hope I can get some insight from everyone. My husband and I are buying into BLT. We have all the papers at home and they are waiting to be signed. We both are so excited because we love Disney. My only hesitation is: Am I getting the best incentive? We are currently getting money per point back for closing and a years worth of points to use by October. (April Incentive)

Is this a good incentive? We are being told that right now they are not offering a years worth a points free but they are giving more money per point for closing?

Does one incentive sound better to you? Also I have read on your forums about Disney Visa giving annual passes? Is that something that DVC tells you about or do you have to contact Disney Visa? Do you have to do something special in order to get this?

I hope everyone can understand where I am coming from. This is a big purchase and I just want to make sure I buy in at the right time with the best incentive.

Thanks for all your help!!! :)

Welcome Home :ROFLOL:
We just booked last week at the new Villas at Animal Kingdom and got it for 96.00 a pt and 2008 points.
How much did you end up paying per point?

It all depends on how you look at it.

You are getting points and "cash back" and are asking if its better to get more "cash back" and no bonus points.

The thing is what is worth more to you. Were you planning a vacation and now will be able to use the extra points, or will you use the extra points by making a trip that you normaly would not?

If you have to scramble to put together a trip to use the extra points, then I would say the cash off is better. However if you can book a trip or do something special that is worth it to YOU, then maybe the points are worth more.

To add some numbers to the mix, most points rent for somwhere around the maintainence cost. IE, if the maintainence is $6 a point, you could rent points for $6 each on the rental market. So, are they giving you more or less in extra cash back per point. Thats a different way of looking at it. If they are giving more cash back, you could just rent the points for that amount if you so wished (of course rental has its own perils)

As far as Disney Visa giving AP's - if you buy in at 160 points or more (or add on 100+) and use your Disney Visa to pay for at least a %15 down payment, you get two free AP's

However ....

Your DVC membership will give you a discount on AP's - not free, but a discount.

and ...

I don't believe that the free AP incentive can be combined - not sure about this though.

Wow, you did really good. Was that an incentive? What is 2008 points?

The BLT was $112.00 a point but they offered $5.00 a point to be given in a gift card or it could be put down as a down payment.

Or DVC sales person Is Doug Rapp... he was great answered all my questions and said if we bought into Animal Kingdom we would get points for 2008 that can be used by 2010, and in Dec 09 we would get our points for this year...
Animal Kingdom is our "home" hotel and we are staying at Bay Lake in Sept. Maybe you should call and ask if you can get that deal if you are planning a trip this year.

For BLT, current incentive is $8 off per point and if purchasing more than 100 points, your choice of
1. A 3 night cruise for 4 (very limited dates)
or
2. Additional $6 per point off
or
3. 2 Annual Passes

We are adding on 100 points and found the 2 passes worth more ($800) than the $6 per point ($600). We can activate them next year when we go in May. If you are purchasing more points, then the extra cash is the better way to go.

These incentives have been around since the middle of April and are rumored to be ending/changing in June. You must be a current member or get a referral from a current member to get them. The free annual passes offer expires May 30 (this offer is through Disney Visa). I called my guide last week to add on and just got the paperwork Monday.
