DVC add-ons

I'm a fairly new DVC member: bought BLT in December, and added more BLT points in January.

I am thinking about buying additional points, but perhaps not at BLT.

My understanding is that only BLT, SSR, AKV (oh, and GCH) are currently being sold. But I don't know how to read: http://dvcnews.com/content/view/227/173/

This appears to say that "Current Member Add-On Purchase" can be made for Beach Club Villas at "$106 base price; 25-point minimum purchase". Does this mean I could, as a current DVC member, add an additional contract with BVC points? (Or am I misreading this? Does it mean that only current BVC contract holders can buy more BCV points?)

Thanks for any clarification.

I'm pretty sure you should be able to buy add-on points at any DVC resort where points are currently avaialble. When it comes to the older resorts, DVC only has the points to sell when an original owner sells THEIR points back to DVC.

However, there are websites, including the timeshare store (see the little linky near the top of the thread?) that also resells DVC points, and for considerably less than what DVC charges for the same points. But if someone tries to sell their points for TOO low a price, DVC gets dibs on buying them first - it's called "right of first refusal" and should've been explained to you by your DVC rep or in the materials you were given when you first purchased.

So, if you're looking to buy additional points into one of the older resorts, and you're not buying enough points to take advantage of any promotion DVC is offering by buying your points directly from them, look into a DVC reseller.

One thing to remember is that only the points that come a specific resort can be used to book in the 11 month window for that resort.

For example, lets say you have 200 points at SSR

Now you add on 25 points at BCV

At the 11 month time frame you can only book 200 points worth of rooms at SSR and 25 points worth of rooms at the BCV

To use the remainder of your points you would have to wait for the 9 month window.

So buying 25 points at BCV is not going to let you book a 225 point stay over Christmas in Feburary.

If DVC has points in BWV or BC to sell, they will sell to you as a current owenr, I have purchaes more BWV points twice, bought in at 220, added 25 and then added 30 (and just now 100 with BLT) Each time I called my contact and I went on a waiting list for my use month and BWV, one time it took 5 months to get my use month of february, teh second time 10 days, its all based on avaialblity.

Patience is the key here
