Yes, because I'm that much of a tool and just have to have a Duffy when I get down there, lol!

So, anyone know how much a small Duffy and one outfit of choice would cost me?

Thanks!

If I recall these right...

The 17" standard Duffy is $24.99. The outfits I'm not sure of because I didn't like them. I'll be making my own with the plethora of Disney fabrics I have. I want to say the outfits were $20 or something like that.

I got 2 of the smaller 12" Duffy's each wearing a different hoody: 40th Anniversary and 2011. I'm pretty sure they were either $24.99 also. Yeah, they're smaller but they have the little hoody already. I intend to make them some clothes, too.

There's a great big jumbo one, a smaller wristlet one, and an even smaller magnet one. I don't remember the prices of any of those.

Man, Duffy's success in merch and all just amazes me--I love it!! I really want a Duffy--liking the idea of one w/ a hoody--40th anniversary, I think, YES!!

The 17" Duffy would be the $24.99 + sailor suit which I'm pretty sure was $19.99 will be a total of about $45 + tax. Or, if you have an AP you can get 10% off.

I loooove the 12" with the hoodies. They sit right next to my bed.

If you've not seen a Duffy bear in person and already have some interest I think you'll really fall in love when you do see one in the flesh/fur. Duffy is soooooo soft & huggable. He's a power-cuddle guy for sure. :animwink:

I know there's some who hate Duffy & the idea or placement. Personally, I love him. I think he's great. If they'd had a better variety of merch for him I'd have spent a lot more money on my last trip. As of right now I have plans to make him clothes plus make a backpack or modify a backpack with a Duffy-holder of sorts on front sorta like these on the Disney Store website.

Yeah, there's no way I'm going to spend 45$+ on a stuffed animal, even at Disney...I'll pick one of the hoodie Duffys up.

Thanks!

Yeah, I think the different sizes of Duffy work well for just this sort of thing. You may not want a plain old nekkid Duffy but who wants to spent $45 for the bear + an outfit? So make a smaller version, pop a themed hoody on him, and bam! He's working for those who don't want to spend so much for him. I think they'd do well to make some little shirts or things for the smaller sizes as well.

I gave my grandmother the medium-sized Duffy in a Scottish outfit (my late grandfather came from Scotland) for Christnas, and she couldn't put him down. She kept going on and on about how huggable he is - just goes to prove that he isn't only for kids. :)

I bought myself one of the 40th anniversary ones - love his little hoodie! He looks so cute next to my NYC WOD Disney Bear.

I would still recommend getting the larger Duffy. There will not be any additional outfits for the smaller ones. Plus, all the Build-a-bear outfits fit medium Duffy.

And Btw, 23 year old Duffy fan here! And the sailor outfit is pretty rad!

Death to Duffy the Profit Bear!:fork:

Sorry...had to vent. That bear has no reason to exist other than to chase $ and further muddy up the merchandise situation.

Much agreed. The sooner that atrocious monument to profiteering goes away, the better.

I see where y'all are coming from because it's not as innate in adults to look beyond the financial aspect of a Teddy bear as it is for a child. An adult normally looks at something and assess price vs. function to determine their impression of worth. Children tend to skip the price part & go with what they feel. I know as a logical adult that Disney could care less how anyone feels so long as $$ flows in. But then there's adults (like me) who still look at some things & the adult assessment goes out the window as the inner-child dashes out to embrace this object of affection. I first saw Duffy in Tokyo Disney blogs & fell in love. It had nothing to do with the financials. I wanted one. Now that Duffy is in the US it has made my Duffy dreams come true. Does it have anything to do with Disney? Yes & no. This is from a girl who took a $200 soft-sculpted collectible doll & modified it to a Disney theme virtually reducing it's value in the secondary market to nil then spent 40+ hours hand-crafting a wardrobe for it. Duffy is a Disney-themed bear that appeals to the young & young at heart. Is it that much different than a Pook-a-Looz? If Duffy were produced with high-end mohair furs & cost what the Disney Steiffs do would he have more validity to you? He certainly wouldn't be as attainable & wouldn't be a suitable for children if that were the case. When I saw Duffy was coming to the US cost was not a huge factor in my decision to buy one because I loved him. I think that's the part people who don't get into dolls &/or bears miss. It's not ALL about money for all of us. To some Duffy represents something else entirely. Perhaps you don't like Disney's placement of Duffy within the parks. That logic has been discussed. If you dislike Duffy or don't "get" him, that's fine. But please, all I ask is that for those of us who do have a connection, be courteous and kind. Give thought to what you say & where you say it. It's just as okay for some to like Duffy & share our positive thoughts as it is for you to not find his appeal. Okee-dokee?

Well said. :)

I'd prefer a smaller Duffy w/ a 40th anniversary sweatshirt, since I'll be visiting WDW in its 40th year. It'd bring some meaning and many memories if I bought this bear during the important 40th year of Walt Disney World.

Coming from a guy--I'm comfortable enough to say this about a teddy bear...

The cost of the bear isn't the point.
The point is that while you can barely find any ride-specific or land-specific merchandise at WDW, they think it's ok to just make up a random bear character which has no real Disney history, and convince people that it's a "Disney bear" and everyone should run out and get one.
Duffy is meaningless as a Disney character, he hasn't "earned" the attention he is getting. It's all PR and marketing attempting to reach into guests' and fans' pockets.
Ya'll buy a Mickey or Minnie and put a 40th shirt on them. THAT would mean something.

I agree that they need more land & attraction merch, but Duffy has Disney history. Not many were familiar at first, but it is Disney...Trust me, Mickey and Minnie will have 40th Anniversary merch.
