I Saw on Twitter that Duffy Bear merchandise is now in the U.S. Disney parks. Does anyone know if the character will appear in the parks at all? I wasn't sure anything other than merchandise had been announce. Thanks.

He's huge at Tokyo Disneyland. Lines for his merchandise and meet n greet are long. I think many of the WDW Japanese guests will want to see him.

No American cares enough about a stuffed bear to carry it around and dress it up in outfits. Sorry, I don't think this will work at all.

Never seen a Build a Bear Workshop eh?

It's a bit naive to think American children (who will obviously be the main focus of this marketing push) will not be interested in this. Stuffed animals are pretty much a guaranteed sell, there will always be a market for them.

My daughter bought an original Disney Bear several years ago when Once Upon a Toy was new for either $20 or $30. That bear is now worth about $250 and she knows this, but she loves it so much at age 14 she sleeps with it every night and never leaves overnight without it. He is adorable, and perfect for a disney fan with the mickey shapes on his body. I think he will be very popular.

Not played with, still in the original packaging it may be worth $250. Slept with and taken to slumber parties, it’s now worth $2.99. :D

Thanks. I'm can't wait to see this character in the parks. One of the people I follow on twitter when to Tokyo and posted pictures of Duffy, everyone seemed to enjoy him. I think people will like him here too.

oh and I agree with that person that pointed out Build-a-bear workshop as evidence that Americans do like bears. Also look at the popularity of the Care Bears, etc. I don't see Duffy having any problems catching on in the states.

We have one of those well loved bears too. I don't care how much he could be worth, we just love him as he is.

We are hoping to have a baby in the next year or so. During our recent trip, we bought two things for the baby to be. One was a pair of Mickey Mouse Ears with the name that we have picked out to that would work for a boy or a girl. The other was two "Mickey Bears" so that the Mickey Bear can be our kid's favorite snuggle comfort item and when it needs a wash, we can replace it with the other one, so that our kid will always have that special bear and they should show about the same level of wear since I am sure that it will get washed more than a few times during it's existance.

Obviously, we love Duffy!

Last time I checked I was most definitely 100% American and I absolutely would make/purchase clothes or accessories for a Duffy bear to carry around. My trip report from January this year is proof positive of that. I know plenty of adult-kids-at-heart who would also dig Duffy. Open your mind and your heart. Give a bear a chance. :animwink:

Lol, I thought the name sounded like a dollar store ripoff of Mickey Mouse at first, but now that I see him, I like him. I want one! I'm a sucker for Japanesey stuff anyway (kawaii desuuu~~ zerg rush).

Wait, whoa. Unless he goes by some other name, he doesn't have a Wikipedia article. Mind BLOWN.
