I was at IOA on Monday and noticed Dudley was closed and basically drained of water. Anyone know if it is being refurbed or was it closed for some reason?

It happens sometimes. I rode it a few weeks ago and when I went to get on again (5 minutes later) it was closed. It happens. But it always seems to happen when it's hot as you know where outside!!

It seems to be off and on these days. E stop may drain it, but who knows. It seems to be down more than open in the past year! Stupid new lap bars is my guess!

They put a lap bar in the ride now? Is that new or always there and just put better ones in? I can't remember, it's been that long since I rode this.

It was like a log flume from what I remember, a little like Splash Mountain but in single file. But I know they have problems with kids standing up. When my sister rode it last year, they were sharing a log with 3 kids who kept standing up and they kept having to stop the ride. They didn't seem to speak English so in the end, my sister just got hold of one of their T-shirts and yanked them back down and they seemed to get the message then!

It was closed in 2006 for ages! Such a cool ride though!

The single file sitting sounds familiar. I remember just getting drenched on this thing worse than a really wet ride on Splash Mountain.

If kids are standing up on it then lap bars sounds like a good move.

Yeah, I remember seeing signs on the ride telling people not to stand up, but the lap bar was really on me, so I wondered how someone would even do that!

I went down there on Memorial Day weekend. It was thundering like hell , I was stuck on the ride for 80 mins waiting. I got on it with like maybe 10 people left holding out. The ride was having a lot of issues. I was terrified of course because I'm afraid of heights ,and I really thought it was gonna stop again because they sent out some members and they didnt come back for what seemed like 20 minutes. As we went out it was night time and it was raining hard , I cannot lie , it did make Snidley Whiplash more eviler and bad .

If you were to jump head first into 12' of water you would stay slightly dryer than a typical ride on Popeye.

I hear this all the time, but the funny thing is that I have never got soaked on it. Dudley and Splash have drenched me more in the past than I ever have on Popeye.

Ripsaw's refurb already happened this year...I'm guessing there was an E-Stop that drained the water. Or their might have been lightening in the area. I'm not sure if they drain for that, but it would make sense to me.
