DTD Third Parties Upset Over Parking

What are you talking about? We are not talking about other companies. We are talking about AMC Theaters at DTD. Did they promise a completion date for the parking garage or not? If they did, when was it?

There's no way any of us could know what was said or what's in writing. To speculate is just silly.

Regardless, the timing is incredibly poor and taking much longer than it should when compared to other construction projects of this scope. Their current tenants have a right to be angry that they'll be sacrificing two years plus of profits while Disney brings in more competition to pad their own wallet.

Is it a much needed expansion? Certainly. However, the current tenants should be compensated for their losses during construction.

It all depends on what their lease stipulates. If it stipulates compensation for construction and maintenance then Disney should of course pay. However, if it does not then Disney is on the hook for nothing. If AMC did in fact go public with this complaint, my guess is their lease does not have a compensation clause the the situation that @NowInc described is playing out.

AMC would of been briefed ... if we look at it as AMC were told that the following statement was true:

The work being carried out will not cause disruptions of note, that could impact your sales over the period of work being carried out

Then yes AMC is still in the right of kicking up a fuss.

God bless the "Ignore" button.
Um, long range goal of a completed DTD will more than likely make these business who are crying now laughing to the bank when all is said and done.

Jimmy Thick- Its always Disney's fault I suppose...
Yeah, but they'll take a discount whenever they can get it. DTD property must be a small fortune.

I seriously doubt AMC would pack up and leave. They just sank a ton of money in upgrading the theater to Fork and Screen. Walking away from that investment because of a short period of parking trouble doesn't make much sense at all.

I'm sure AMC, as well as other businesses have lost some revenue, but the ends justifies the means in this case. People complain about how DHS needs more attractions but DTD is the biggest area on WDW property that needs more love than anywhere else. AMC wants a little hand out, but I doubt they are hurting, especially with Hunger Games recent release.

Ends justify the means, can't make anomelet without breaking eggs.... You do love your Stalin.

I agree with you, AMC needs to shut up however there's been a lack of planning with DTD parking and it's a disaster for everyone. Everyone is affected and AMC is crying when a lot of others are affected more.

"If they build it... more people will come" - these complainers just need to have patience although it wouldn't be bad of Disney to give them some rent discount during all the construction too

The reason I won't go to fork and screen is because the food sucks. I'd love to go again but the service and food is a giant pile of poopie

Its true though, DTD is terrible as it stands in its current form, I can't see how the leases would be pleased in the environment they currently try to make a profit in. Fixing DTD, as Disney is doing will make it easier to drive more traffic, and make the property they currently hold more valuable from a retail sense.

I love WDW, but DTD is indeed embarrassing.

Jimmy Thick- Is Harley still in PI?

Harley is in DTD now, near Candy Cauldron.

Once Steve Schussler runs his fleet of Amphicars all over the Disney Springs Lakes, AMC et all will be drowning in visitors. All this construction will have been forgotten.

yes...I'm being sarcastic.

The compromise here is simple - Disney needs to change the overall development... doing so disrupts their existing tenants... so Disney should be accommodating accordingly by adjusting amounts they are due. The compromise is easy... the problem is it means giving up $$$. What is Disney more interested in? Holding the line and running tennents to the edge... or creating loyalty and an involved partnership? Anyone see any paralells here????

Tenants who likely signed up BEFORE any master redevelopment plans were discussed or scoped. So in that sense they are blind-sided.

And @Master Yoda - lets be frank here.. just how strong of a bargaining position do you think these vendors are in when trying to negotiate their retail lease with Disney??? Does anyone realistically think they can dictate terms to Disney on that scale? Not bloody likely.

But they DO have a written contract which supersedes any oral contract. ;)

I would hazard a guess in that written contract there is no mention of Disney Springs ... that other thing Hyper Wharf Mania with extra lights-thing maybe but still I doubt AMC contract has any concession about Disney Springs.
