DTD and Magical Express

Hi,

We (2 adults) have a trip planned for Disney on June 11th. Very excited about it! This is our second time going, but first time staying at a Disney resort.

I had two quick questions (for now):

1) We have reservations for House of Blues at 9 PM. We also have tickets for La Nouba before that, starting at 6 PM. Now, if I'm correct, La Nouba should be over by 8:30, right? And as far as I can tell, House of Blues is right next to La Nouba, so we shouldn't have any issues getting to the restaurant on time, should we?

2) As far as the Magical Express works going back, our plane is leaving at 2:15 from MCO. So do we basically just drop our luggage off at the front desk at 11:15 and get on the bus? Or do we need to take our luggage and put it on the bus? And after that, we should just expect the luggage to be at the pickup when we get to our home airport? It all just seems to good to be true - I keep expecting that we need to do SOMETHING in between the Disney resort and our home state. :ROFLOL:

Provided that La Nouba ends at 8:30 you will have no problem getting to house of blues because they are in fact a two minute walk from one another. As far as magical express goes, they have this system called airline check in (or something like that) at the hotel. A good number of major airlines participate in this so you should be able to do so as well. There is a stand usually by bell services in the front of all hotels and you can check your bags with them and you will also be able to get your boarding pass there as well. Then you just get on the bus that they assign to you. The day before you leave you will get a note under your door telling you what time to report to the pickup area for the bus. Have fun.

Yes, when we flew JB in 06', they did participate so you'll have no prob. dropping off your luggage at your resort. It will be there for you in your home city...yeah, it is cool.

Resot Airline Check-in desks are open from 5:00a.m. to 1:00 p.m. You need to check-in there no later than 3 hours prior to your flight. I recommend doing it well before that.

First, your DME bus will be scheduled approximately 3 hours before your flight time. That bus time is the time the bus leaves, not the time the bus arrives. If you get in line at the RAC desk too close to your DME time, you might have to forfeit using RAC so you don't miss your bus.

RAC is exactly like curbside check-in ... actually, it IS curbside check-in, just that it's in your resort lobby and not at the curb at the airport. You can't just drop off your bags, and it's not an instantaneous process. Luggage checked with RAC doesn't go on your bus, it goes to your airline via truck. After you check your luggage with RAC, the next time you see it will be on your home airport's baggage claim carousel.

The folks working the RAC desk are not Disney cast members. Tip the folks at the RAC desk the same way you'd tip using curbside check-in.

You know, that is the PERFECT way of explaining RAC to people! A totally separate entity from DME, it's like a remote airport desk.

You could even go so far as to imagine them placing your bags on a REEEEEAAALLLYYYY long conveyor belt that stretches from WDW to MCO, and that's why it needs to be done in advance. ;)
(I've heard suggestions of a minimum of 4 hours before your flight for RAC)

Now comes the question as to whether my friend, who works for one of the participating airlines, can use RAC to check his bag even though he'll be flying on non-rev status when we go in September...

Resort check in is a very nice system. I did it in January and it made things much easier. I recommend checking your bags in and getting your boarding passes earlier. It will make it easier for you as opposed to doing it as the bus is getting there.
