Driving to the World and want to know good place in Tallahassee to stay

I will be driving to the World from Louisiana and want to stop over in Tallahassee to break up the long drive. Does anyone know of any nice places to stay along I-10 in and around the Tallahassee area? I chose Tallahassee because it is about halfway to Orlando from where we will be leaving from.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and have a magical day!

Its fixing to get crazy here. I wish I could just get out of town but my job requires us to be there.
I had heard, seen video but nothing prepares one for a mardi gras. Me and 17 year old DD on Bourbon St. the evening we flew in, we stayed on the River/hotel with a mall attached across from Casino a night to be in the thick of it, (on purpose.) An experience. We moved onto Garden district the next day but will never forget our adventure or the trolley that night. No leaves on the trees at Tulane but adorned with beads.

When we drove straight through this past Nov, we left the house around 8:30p CT and were checking into YC @ WDW around 3pm ET the following day. Our only significant stop was in Tallahassee where we filled up on breakfast... enough so that the snacks I'd packed would get us through all the way to arrival, but we were also traveling w/our 2 younger children...so that meant a number of bathroom breaks. Still...not bad time either.

THIS IS PERFECT...THANK U...I WANTED TO MAP OUT MY DRIVE N HOW MANY HRS ON THE ROAD..I AM TRAVELING WITH KIDS BUT TEENAGERS...SO POTTY BREAKS WILL B FEW...HAPPY TRAILS

Well, we're back, and it took just under 14 hours, we only stopped once for gas and food, and that was only about a 15 minute stop, (no children, so didn't need additional potty breaks). We left North Houston at 6:30pm and pulled in to All Star Sports at 9:30, quick trip going down, but seemed longer coming back due to the sadness of leaving.

Sounds like you made really good time. We usually need to make at least two gas stops with my vehicle each way...so that slows us down more. Yea- drive home is sad, but if you can extend the drive home...sometimes stopping in Biloxi or New Orleans makes it a more happy experience. Hope you had a great trip! :)

I live in Tallahassee, and I can tell you that every hotel on the Monroe Street exit (exit 199) is awful, dirty and somewhat shady. There are lots of them there, but they're all awful.

If you wait to the next exit (203), there are much better choices. This is the more affluent part of town and the hotels reflect that. I can personally recommend the TownPlace Suites about a mile south off the interstate; but there are also other good ones right off the south side of the exit. Also a lot of really nice (chain and non-chain) restaurants on the north side of the exit.

Exit 199 - No. Exit 203 - Good to go.

I checked out hotels on exit 203 and found some good ones. I even google mapped the area and there is a nice area off the exit with restaurants/hotels all in the same parking lot or at least it seemed so. I will most likely go with the Hampton Inn and Suites due to the free breakfast in the morning.

Thanks!:D

IMO, the Causeway Exit would be the best, Causeway North to be exact. There are nice hotels in that area off of I-10 and this is located in Metairie, a suburb of Metairie. The hotels are reasonable. Good Luck. If you need anything else, let me know.

I thought I found a hotel off of exit 203 in Tallahassee but a friend of mine stayed at the Candlewood Suites off of exit 199 and said it was very nice. I will have to look at that one too.

I'd stick with what the locals seem to know:

I also live in Tallahassee and second the vote for picking one of the hotels off exit 203. It is a nicer part of town than off exit 199. Not that exit 199 is a really bad neighborhood or anything (I think the description of "somewhat shady" by drkokintz is appropriate ), but you will find much better food options and such around the exit 203 area. I haven't personally stayed at any of the hotels off 203 but most are what you would think of as the higher-end chains.

We drive from North Louisiana (we leave in 10 days!) and we usually stop in Panama City Beach or Pensacola Beach, but we have stopped in Tallahassee once. We stayed at the Ramada Inn, the lobby was gorgeous but that was just the front! the rooms were HORRIBLE! very outdated, very DIRTY and dusty....then we went into the bathroom, which apparently had not been cleaned! the only PLUS to it was it was next door to a Cracker Barrell! LOL...Sorry I couldnt help!

I live in Tallahassee and I advise you to stop in Panama city or Pensacola. That Ramada has since closed btw (big surprise, right, lol). If you do stay in Tallahassee try a hotel on Thomasville Road (319) or Capital Circle NE. There are some nice hotels downtown, but they might be hard for you to find once you arrive.

I am also in Tallahassee....we are here for two years and before moving over stayed at the Hampton you are speaking of and it was very clean and the staff was polite. There are plenty of restaurants near by. We got home on the 18th and the drive from Tallahassee seemed to fly by. Took us a little over 3 1/2 hours. Hope you have a great time. Stay safe.

DH and I drive from Mississippi, it's about an 8-9 hour drive. This will be our first time taking DD and also her first long car trip. Should we attempt the drive in one day?

Thanks to all of the Tallahassee contributors. I will now definitely stay at a hotel off of exit 203.:)
