Dress code

It's my opinion that a lot of people simply no longer care about their own personal appearances.
One unique night when some guests are dressed to the nines is at NYE Epcot. Some Ladies in high heels , little black dresses, and some guys in shirt tie and slacks.

Just searched for vintage pictures of the parks. I really don’t see a discernible difference in formality. Look at this group below, one of whom is wearing a crop top:

I think you guys are being a tad dramatic about athleisure wear and the downfall of society.

I myself wear sundresses/skirts/shorts in the park and I saw a LOT of other women (and maybe men, who knows!) wearing pretty sundresses/skirts/tops/shorts in the parks.
And those in the athleisure category always looked well put together. Obviously there are always exceptions to the rule.

Sure, some people looked a bit disheveled in their t-shirts/cargo shorts, but it's hot and no one looks great after a day in the heat. I look a mess after a day in the humidity too.
The way a person dresses in public tells me all I need to know about them. I don't even dress slobby to go to Walmart. Appearances matter everywhere and anytime. I'm not saying you need to wear Gucci to Magic Kingdom but a nice pair of shorts and a tee shirt is sufficient.

I just got back. I walked an average of 9 miles a day in 95 degree heat with humidity off the charts. Im not gonna wear a three piece suit because people long for the old days. I'm gonna wear comfortable clothes. Disney is almost like a workout, so those clothes fit the bill.

There's a time and place for everything
I’m just saying. A lot of people that complain about the way people dress especially at the parks. Are In A lot of ways jealous or envious. They really don’t care what people wear. They just don’t like they way the other person looks. But again. It’s body appropriate. I won’t wear a Speedo to the beach. I don’t have that kinda man’s body. But I will wear a short bathing suit. People need to wear what the actually look good in.

Who said anything about three piece suits? People are asking if they can wear what used to be considered underwear.

That’s not the point. It’s some will look good some don’t. If wearing minimal clothing. Wear to be comfortable. But look decent Doing it. Park attire rules everywhere at Disney. And as for the pools. Clearly there is zero dress code. In the end. It’s all body appropriate.

Exactly. I couldn’t care less what someone wears by me on a plane. Just be clean and look good wearing what you are. Whether it’s skimpy or full dressed up.

Oddly enough, the popular gucci clothes look super sloppy to begin with!! Ever see a line outside of a Gucci store? It like people rolld out of their bed in their $1,000 jammies.

I don't really care what others wear so long as...

  • I can stare a little if it is in any way a spectacle
  • It does not include language that will get my kids in trouble if they repeat at school
  • It is hygienic - no groin sprinklin's left behind

That said, I would not wear anything likely to offend out of respect for others. I feel this should be reciprocated, but understand society is going a little narcissistic and what others think is not longer part of the decision making process.

It is the narcissism. Everyone thinking they are the center of the universe and should be able to do whatever they want seems problematic.

Maybe I am wrong.
Clothing choice isn't problematic. The wanting to whatever they want is an issue. But I consider those things acts that affect other people. Like watching someone berate a cm because they can't stand in a pathway to watch the fireworks. Thats something I saw last week and my sister actually yelled at them and they finally moved.

lol...you must go in Feb..
I'm just back, and nowhere near 30% of women were wearing crop/sports bra/bikini tops. I did not see anyone wearing a bikini top at WDW. I did see a handful of young ladies wearing tops that tied in the front, but they stood out to me, in large part because they looked a little self-conscious.

I have seen bikini tops at Universal. They tend to be most common near the water rides in Islands of Adventure, but then even at Universal, people tend to either add a top or leave the park (after the water rides).

Tank tops were very common at both properties, especially the athletic style tank tops. (Nike? Under Armour?)

I just went back through my photos, and the majority of folks in the background are wearing regular t-shirts, even the teens, a few are wearing sleeveless tank tops. One woman is wearing a halter-top.

I did see some women wearing a crop top and bike shorts/leggings, or a crop top with high rise shorts.

One thing to keep in mind though is that this time of year, afternoon storms are very common. Whatever you opt to wear, it might end up very wet. When it rains this time of year, it doesn't always last long, but it is often very heavy. You get drenched in just a few seconds.
In some cases, you can wait it out in a gift shop. Other times, we have entered a ride under sunny skies/start of clouds. When the ride (Buzz) was over, it was pouring and the CM's kicked everyone out of the ride exit. If you get caught trying to get to an ADR in the World Showcase that can also be a drenching experience.

For example, Weather.gov for WDW (zip 32830):

today 80% "t-storms"
8/31: 70% "Showers Likely"
9/1: 70% "Showers Likely"
9/2: 60% "Showers Likely"
9/3: 50% "chance T-storms"

This time of year, water tolerant shoes are also a great idea. We tend to prefer quality walking sandals, like Ecco or Teva.
