Dreamfinder Returning??

You do have to give Disney credit..

The Living Seas sat as a crap-fest for how many years without the ride, one of the preshow theater closed, and the pre-pre show deleted?

No one could tell unless they knew about it from before. Those were some snazzy interior fake walls.

The same can be said for Imagination - the only remnant is a stairway in the Imagworks and a hidden escalator in the queue. Not being privy to the pavilion, I wouldn't guess those were of importance.

Over at Wonders, the potted plants do a lot to hide the place. It's mostly gone back into the wilderness it came from.

I really like the idea that if the Nemo ride opens and does well, Epcot will be forced to look into adding capacity.

As it is now, there are 3 major lines, Test Track, Soarin', and Turtle Talk with M:S, Maelstrom, and Land Boats being secondary but popular.

If you say 1 hour of park time for each major, 30mins for each secondary, then realize most folks eat a sit-down meal at Epcot and watch Illuminations, you have a park that is an 8 hour day easy without really looking into other attractions.

Well, people do look into those attractions now though! I could stand in Canada by myself for hours '02-'04. Now I watch the movie with a small (50 or so) group of people, both there and in China during the non-peak periods.

I think that one more majorly popular thing at Epcot, Nemo, will make them have to say "Hey, what can we put in Wonders?" And if it takes a year while the dome sits empty, so be it.

Yeah, but Screamscape says something about a 35th :hammer: anniversary celebration and Tapestry 3 too. Someone needs to either brush up on their math or park history.

Another Tapestry parade would ROCK! But, that information from ScreamScape and, well, we all know how reliable their information is.

As a guest, way before I was as interested as I am now in the parks, I was frustrated by the closed areas I saw - litereally a waste to the everyday fee paying guest. When it comes down to it, a paying guest expects to see everything onstage - Odyssey, Imageworks, wasted Innoventions areas, and now WoL too. It was almost a joke about Horizons, TK and 20k in their vegitating state. If an onstage facility is there, and designed for guest access, it should be available to the guest.

First and foremost, the magic in the parks is about image - and a great part of that image is in what the guest sees. Areas closed off arn`t magical. Look what hapened in Anaheim under the previous regime. Don`t let WDW become another West Coast Tomorrowland.

I agree, Marni! I can't tell you how much it saddened me every trip I made to Disneyland in the late 80s through the late 90s to see the America Sings building (a building so large you couldn't miss it anywhere in Tomorrowland) sit there dead and unoccupied, adorned with the same irritatingly unchanging sign "We're Imagineering a Brand New Attraction." Yes, they did reuse most of the characters in Splash Mountain, but for it to sit there for so long was really quite awful. This was made even worse when they also chose to close down Mission to Mars, basically leaving the "back wall" of Tomrrowland dead. And I won't even get into the whole Skyway removal, Rocket Rods debacle, death of Circlevision (to become a stinking queue!), and death of the Submarine Voyage. Only in the last couple of years have things started to come back. But as a regular guest (and later, Tomorrowland cast member), I have to say I thought this was extremely bad show, and I feel the same way about many areas in Disney World now, too. It has nothing to do with being a "fanboy." It has everything to do with getting to enjoy all of what Disney has to offer, getting my money's worth, and not having to constantly encounter signs that might just as well say, "Sorry, we're closed because this isn't considered an E-Ticket attraction anymore and people aren't visiting it as much as we think they should. So say goodbye to this, unless the park gets REALLY busy and we might re-open it temporarily as a place to herd people."
My current beef is really with EPCOT. Yes, I'm about to whine about the loss of the great Futureworld attractions. Rather than add attractions to the Park, instead they felt the need to kill all the stuff I personally felt made EPCOT the best of the Parks (including Disneyland!). Journey Into Imagination, World of Motion, Horizons, Cranium Command, The Making of Me, Captain EO, and Spaceship Earth - these were all the highlights of my first trip to Disney World, and now all but one are history. I can't pretend to be happy about this. Nor can I pretend to be happy about what was slapped in some of their places. The current Journey Into Your Imagination is a sad remnant of its former self, Honey, I Shrunk the Audience is a one-time kind of show (I visit Disneyland almost weekly and it's the one attraction I haven't been in for well over a year), Test Track couldn't hold even a stub of a candle to World of Motion, Wonders of Life is just a dead building, and while I haven't been on Mission to Mars v.2...I mean Mission: Space (but think I will enjoy it, based on what I've seen) I will forever bemoan the loss of Horizons. Maybe in some of your minds those original attractions weren't futuristic enough for you (though I defy anyone to tell me what's even remotely futuristic about Test Track), and maybe you thought they were boring. Maybe Disney management did, too. That is your/their opinion, and of course, you/they are entitled to it. But I've seen some on these boards who feel it their right to tell us we can't be upset because Disney made a "business decision." I'm sorry, we can. We can whine when the quality of the new attraction doesn't measure up to its predecessor. We can whine when we know Disney can do better. We can whine if we feel Disney shouldn't be neglecting or killing the C or D ticket attractions in favor of cheap thrill E-tickets. I know nothing will come of it and things will still be as they are, but it's nice to know there are others who feel the way I do.
Don't get me wrong, I like change. I just don't like it when it destroys something of incredibly high quality...and that hasn't outlived its usefulness.

I'm new around these parts, but I am an old-school WDW kid. I grew up between Tampa and Orlando and can remember waiting all week for the chance that I would get to step onto Horizons or sing along with the Dreamfinder or the Broccoli from Kitchen Kabaret. These are things I miss, especially when I see wasted space such as the WoL pavilion, and I won't even start on the current state of JIYI. Don't get me wrong, I love Mission Space, and especially Soarin', but there are still days I'd rather have my memories than any of the newer attractions. I guess though, that everyone gets to see things their way. While I would love to see something brought back from my Golden Days, there are still other people that would rather see things bigger, badder, and with that new attraction scent, and there we'll have to agree to disagree. I'll always be in love with WDW, no matter what incarnation it is.

already have, and your right it did

I figured it would because it did for me. Um well if you really want to feel nostalgia, check this out: http://www.dreamfinderforever.fotopic.net/p27543708.html
and this too
http://www.dreamfinderforever.fotopic.net/p27543704.html.

Sad but its nice to know that they ended up at MouseSurplus. I wasn't able to touch them or see if they still worked, but if I had the money I would have bought them on the spot.

Oh and for everyone else, I thought of something else. Maybe the Dreamfinder would come back and retake the upstairs where Imageworks used to be. A show or something could be put up there and it would work.

Disney definitely owns the imagery (check out copyright.gov); but I'm not sure who actually manages the rights to Dreamfinder. Figment himself is often used as an icon within WDI (in addition to Sorcerer's Apprentice Mickey).

Although the current attraction is nowhere near as impressive as the original, I find it to be an enjoyable D-ticket...but the original ride was superb!

EDIT: I agree that the entire Imagination pavilion needs to be utilized again; but as for the Odyssey, does Epcot really need another place to eat?

I mentioned in a podcast a few weeks ago, that after speaking with some Imagineers, Disney considers the Dreamfinder "dead". This is a tag that they really do not give to characters, even when they are taken out of circulation. So I believe that any thoughts of our red-bearded friend ocming back are likely not going to happen.

That does make some sense. Dreamfinder was a necessary character to introduce the main character Figment. Now that Figment can stand on his own, there is no need for Dreamfinder. However, I do like Dreamfinder and wish they could incorporate him back into the attraction somehow.

Here's my thoughts on Figment and the rest of Epcot as it is.

There are mainly three rides that have drawn the guests back into the park. Soarin', Test Track, and Mission Space (although you could argue that Turtle Talk is helping.)

You can't look at Epcot and not see that it needs some major work. I miss Horizons terribly, but the fact is that I might not even love it were it still here. It's that thing called Nostalgia that makes me miss it. So I'll just look at what the park is today and what it needs to be to get back to what it was when it opened.

SSE needs some plussing and I'm glad to see Siemens is supposedly doing it. Just lose the dadgum wand.

UoE and Wonders of Life both need a massive rebuild. In fact, I would have no complaints if they tore both of these down and came up with something new there. WoL is already gone and I've heard rumors that UoE is falling apart. So give us something exciting here again, but give us something in depth. I don't want another 3 minute ride.

Find a way to keep Test Track running. That ride is down all the time.

And now that it seems the living seas pavilion is really going to come back into something good the final priority would be to redo the imagination pavilion. I think it's ok as a kiddie area right now, but when I was there no one was even in the pavillion. I'd love to see that whole area scrapped and re-imagined as someone else put it. I like Figment and I like the idea of imagination, I just think there's so much else that could be done.

Now, that's just what Epcot needs to bring it back to the glory of the land it once was. I'd also love to see at least one more ride built over in the World Pavilion area. Maelstrom is a must see for me everytime, but once you move past Norway there's not another ride the rest of the way through the park. I personally hate the circle vision movies (as most guests do. Notice that most of them skip right through the norway movie and no one ever watches any of the others.) so build something out there as another ride somewhere.

To me, if they could at least do those things along with their finishing of the living seas pavilion, Epcot would again be at the top of the list for Disney parks. As it stands right now, sadly the park that was once my favorite sits near the bottom.

the only problum i have with the kocking buildings down is you start to forget the ride that was once there. That's the problum i have with mision space.

I'm not really calling for the buildings to be knocked down. I miss the Horizons building something fierce. I just mean the whole insides need to be gutted out and started over.
