Wow....i really want to see this!

I can't on my comp though...( i have dial up...Du'oh!)

Maybe if it hits YouTube ( in sections) i can check it out.

Anyone have any screen grabs of the character??

I think this is cool....nice little nod to Classic EPCOT....even though it IS South Park!

I'm such a loser that I did end up staying awake until midnight to see the replay. I was surprised that they took the reference so far, they really had everything. I don't think many people will pick up on it though, looking at some South Park forums they all thought it was just some crazy creation from Trey and Matt.

Here is a link to watch it. Remember that the show is far from than family friendly though.

http://southparkstudios.com is the main South Park site that Comedy Central, Trey Parker, and Matt Stone approve, and all of them does check out the site for feedback. That's the one that I go to. Most people on the site are not "hard core Disney fans" so they're not going to get the reference.

I figured most people wouldn't pick up on it. I just think its always a bit of a shock to myself and others here when people can't realize "Disney things."

Thanks for the heads up, but it won't download for me ( too high a bandwith).

I did see a 2 min clip on YouTube this morn...very funny. I spotted what looked to be a green version of Figment too. You can spot him standing next to the 1st terrorist that arrives and blows himself up ( start of the attack).

It resembles him, same body shape, same horns, eyes, etc....but GREEN! Longtime Figment fans know that originally he was supposed to be green, but Kodak balked as it was the color of the enemy, Fuji Film! So he was changed to purple...

Wether or not this dragon IS a spoof of Figgy, and is a sly in-joke for the Figment fans ( knowing he was once green) i have no way of knowing for sure.....but it sure looked like him!

It's a reference to Figment. Believe it or not, Trey Parker is a huge Disney fan. A lot of the episodes have Disney references.

You have GOT to be kidding me??

I'm sorry, but I'm really quite surprised by what I'm reading on this thread about the South Park episode. It was a great (and hilarious) episode, no question about it. But to draw the conclusion that it was making references (or was some sort of homage) to Dreamfinder and Journey into Imagination is a MAJOR stretch. I guess this supports the theory that sometimes people truly do see what they want to see. The references to anything Disney in this episode were few and far between, and were vague at best. The Imaginationland segment of the show was FILLED with cartoon and fantasy characters, only a small handful of which could even be loosely attributed to Disney. From what I saw, the only parts that could even remotely be considered Disney references were as follows:

- A character looking remarkably like Jack Skellington appears for about 4 seconds in a group shot....and has absolutely no lines (This, by the way, is far and away the strongest reference to Disney in the entire episode).

- There is a Cinderella character who looks nothing like the Disney version of Cinderella, unless you consider the generic, and essentially feature-less blue dress to be a Disney reference...but that's a huge stretch. Keep in mind, of course, that Cinderella is not inherently a Disney character, and that many other cartoon studios have made versions of this story.

- There is a character who looks like he is maybe supposed to be Uncle Remus, and a rabbit character standing next to him at one point. Again, it's a vague reference at best, and might not even be intended to be a reference to Disney. As with Cinderella, Uncle Remus and Brer Rabbit were originally non-Disney characters.

- The Mad Hatter appears in a group shot. Like the others, the Mad Hatter is not exclusively a Disney character.

Now let's consider just a small sampling among the multitude of non-Disney characters that appeared in the episode:

- Ronald McDonald
- The Lorax (Hey, wouldn't that be an Islands of Adventure reference?)
- Count Chocula
- Mario from Super Mario Brothers
- Humpty Dumpty
- The Scarecrow from Wizard of Oz
- A Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle
- A talking hammer
- A talking rocket
- H.R. Puffenstuff
- A Care Bear
- A Who (from Whoville....Again, could very well be a reference to IOA)
- The dragon from Dragonheart (complete with Sean Connery voice)
- A character from "Where the Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak
- A cartoon Ewok
- An Egyptian hieroglyph character (possibly a reference to the "Mummy")
- The Last Unicorn
- Pikachu
- A ghost
- Several characters from Greek Mythology
- A Transformer
- Raggedy Ann and Andy
- Mr Clean
- Charlie Brown
- Santa Claus
- A Smurf
- The Ant (from Ant and the Aardvaark)
- Sponge Bob Square Pants

Sorry to burst everyone's bubble, but I think that it's just wishful thinking to believe this episode was intended as some sort of tribute or parody to Disney. For those of you remarking that no one on the South Park fan sites seem to "get it", open your eyes and realize there's nothing there to "get".

Yes I do, which is why I'm amazed that people here are trying to make the guy in the South Park episode out to be a parody of him. He looks more like a generic cartoon "mayor" type character than he does like Dreamfinder. At one point in the show, they even refer to him as the "mayor of Imaginationland" or something to that effect.

He's not Dreamfinder. People look for Disney references where they don't exist. This is one such case. Accept it.

I agree actually. I am not too sure this is supposed to be dreamfinder. When they make fun of people on South park they generally make the character look fairly close to "real life". I see no reason why they would give him a thin mustache and goatee instead of his usual full beard. In addition, they drew him wearing polka dot pajama pants w/a red jacket. Not particularly close to what he normally wears.

It is a big coincidence that he has a blimp and sings "Imagination". However, perhaps this is a case of "Inspired by" rather than a direct reference to a character.

Exactly! I was reading about the episode on a few other sites and NONE of them made a connection between that character and Dreamfinder, nor did they make a connection between the episode itself and anything specifically Disney. In fact, a few of the sites described the character as a cross between the Wizard of Oz and Willy Wonka. I hadn't really thought about it, but I think he was MUCH more like Willy Wonka than he was like Dreamfinder. And I think the balloon was just a coincidence. It didn't really like like Dreamfinder's balloon that much, and it certainly wouldn't be the first time that a fanciful character's mode of transportation was a balloon.

I also remembered a few more of the non-Disney characters:

- Meanies from Yellow Submarine
- Flash
- Twinkie the Kid
- The Brown Hornet
- Snarf from Thunder Cats
- ________ Tracy (the original comic strip version, not the Disney/Warren Beatty version)
- Little Red Riding Hood
- The Flash
- Oh.....and a leprechaun
