By the way...

Yesteday I filmed this ride. There was no way I was going to take my $800 movie camera on the ride so I used a cheap little digital camera that had a mpg option on it. because of this, the video has no sound (I guess you won't be getting what is said in the begining of the ride), but you still get what it's like to ride it. Since it's a small file (i think 2 MB), I'll upload it soon on my slow modem... I'll give you the address to it once it's up.

I’m pretty sure that’s a “no”. Unlike ToT which uses a real elevator mechanism and can be modified rather easily through computer commands, this ride operates on a blast of compressed air and I’m guessing can’t really be changed without a serious mechanical overhaul. The company that makes it, also makes a version that drops but it’s not the same mechanically… I’ve personally never seen the theme of the line area because the handful of times I’ve done it, I’ve gone through the single riders line. That being said, I can tell you there really isn’t much in the way of theme to the actual ride itself at all. Aside from the little spiel that you hear inside the area you get on at (while waiting for it to start) and a little bit of decoration on the walls, the actual ride doesn’t seem to really have any kind of a theme at all. Then again, that’s not the point with amusement rides, is it? It’s supposed to shoot you up and it does that very well. :)

It's kind of hard to theme a big tower to anything.

Well, one could argue that someone else in Florida managed to do it very, very well but I’ll leave that one alone. ;)

That's what I thought too, but according to screamscape, the ride can also be run with motors and the car can be lifted to the top of the tower and pulled down by the motors. I have seen the car be lifted up after closeing hours and then lowered, but I don't know if it can be dropped.

yes you could argue the fact that disney did build an outstanding attraction in TOT but in Doonm's Fear Fall defense the SS towers are merely filler to IOA. nothing more, nothing less. :)

I think it should've been done inside a tube with lighting effects and once you reach the top...you "blast out of the tube" so you get the great view! (and when you come down and "bounce"...you can see how much FEAR was drained out of you)
