Saw this in Doing Florida, and before it starts, Quest is not closing in June. The F&B is being taken over by DTD F&B since the contract w/Cheesecake Factory is up. This will actually create positive changes and a REAL menu at the location, as well as the posibility of drinks, :slurp: of the adult nature. WOohoO!

"Feb 23 – DisneyQuest may be closing …
There have been rumours circulating for a while that DisneyQuest may be closing to become an ESPN Zone. This week staff were informed that the Cheesecake Factory Express will now be closing in June. If DisneyQuest is due to close its most likely to be by the end of this summer so it can be re-opened ready for the busy Christmas holiday season. "

I am glad to hear this... Last year was the first time I ever did DQ... Had a wonderful time... Even though some things may be outdated, you can still have a great time... The 5 hours I spent there flew right by.... DQ is on my list of things to do in October....

Disney Quest will be shut down. If they did not include it on the expensive park hopper option you would not have the crowds they get. Just like PI if they did not include it you would not have the crowds. That is why they went from 2 nights for CM to Sun- Thur to seven days a week for CM. Not enough people going. Also another possibility is that they will put a ESPN Zone on PI.

Haha, thats funny. The fact that it's getting people to use the WP Fun & more option has nothing to do with it NOT making money... in fact, that proves it IS making money. Where do you think the extra cost on that option goes?!?!?!?

DQ is a HUGE draw even w/o wp Fun & more. It's a huge field trip location because it costs less than parks, lots of locals have APs, and it's popular with families with preteens/teens.

And your excuse of what CMs are working has nothing to do with a closing or opening. If it were doing poorly, staffing would DROP hours. Less guests=less need for labor.

He means nights where CMs get into PI free, not nights PI CMs work. I wasn't aware of the change from Sun-Thurs to every night though, is this true?

So that poster was saying the fact that P.I. is open to CMs 7 days a week translates into Disneyquest Closing?!? Wow...

But yes, P.I. is open to CMs 7 days a week now. Which is for a pretty obvious reason...:lookaroun

Sorry to sound naive, but what do the abbreviations mean?

Sorry! It could just be my lack of sleep over the past week...
In plain English it translates: The Food and Beverage is being taken over by Downtown Disney Food and Beverage team since the contract with the Cheesecake Factory is expiring.

I'll miss some of the desserts, but the food was :hurl:. Certainly not Cheesecake Factory quality.

Thanks. Like I say, I've averaged about 4 hours of sleep a night the last few, so my brain isn't quite functioning like it ought to.

No. It won't be shut down (at least not now). ESPN Zone is an idea that Disney has considered pushing into Downtown Disney for years, but even if the project gets greenlit (finally), it won't go into the DisneyQuest footprint... More like a mild walk into what will sooner or later be an expanded area of Downtown Disney... And it is included on the Premium Annual Pass along with the Water Parks and Pleasure Island.

It did great in 07. I haven't heard anything about 08 yet.

2008 was on par with 07 from what I understand. It still generates strong business. There is no viable reason at this point for Disney to consider closing it, considering that the operational costs have not yet exceeded profits. Until that time, there will be no fiscal reason to convert the complex into a free admission-based attraction.

Oh shut up. We love the Cheesecake Factory express there!! This is horrible!!!

Its been a long time coming. I reported that this change would come a while back, but no one believed they would pump any "visible money" into the complex. This won't just be a simple conversion of the restaurant. There will be a new theme to the floor, a new menu and most likely an expanded seating area. Following the opening of the new dining on that level, the Wonderland Cafe will shut down to be converted to a new experience as well.

Get a clue. It is not working. Who would be a fool and pay the full admission price of $37 to go into a building that does not have all the rides and games working all the time. The reason why they included it on the park hopper option is to hope guests will spend what little money they have left on crappy gifts is the shop or the expensive cheescake food. The same reason on including PI.

Alot of people enjoy it and if they are to make a different food option then we can see DisneyQuest go in the lines of Dave & Busters, And Gameworks...They seem to do pretty well...
