Don't forget to bring...

When going to a place like Disney World there are a few things you should remember to always bring with you. Sometimes these are really logical things that are overlooked. What are some things that you would recommend bringing, especially to someone who has never visited Disney before or who might be going for the first time without the benefit of Mom and Dad's wisdom?

Great Tennis Shoes! Flip Flops can get old after awhile and you never want to wear shoes that might remotely make you uncomfortable after hours walking/standing in the park.

Bring an extra pair of shoes if you visit during the summers months. There's nothing worse than a pair of shoes that got soaked in the rain and didn't dry overnight.

Also when we go at Christmas time, we bring a strand or two of Christmas lights to decorate the room and/or balcony.

Now if someone can help me try to figure out how to stowe away our Saint Bernard! :hammer:

As far as moleskin, I've seen that BandAid has some sort of blister stuff now. Has anyone tried them? I'm definately going to be packing some Cold Brew bags. Oh.. what all do they leave you in the rooms at WL? I'm trying to figure out what all I'd need to take to make up for what they don't supply.

much more clothes than I actually wear.

You are not alone! I pack way too many clothes and I always get made fun of for packing way too many clothes and shoes.

Lets see what am I packing. . .

We are bringing snacks along because we aren't renting a car, and garnola bars for breakfast to save a little on time and money. We are also bringing a little travel candle that's in a tin (no glass!) so it doesn't break. (Yankee Candle has a ton of scents to choose from!) I have like 4 disposiable camera because I always drop my digital camera and it eats batteries like there is no tomorrow. :dazzle:

bathing suits is a must, cold bathing suits are the worst! We are bringing a portable dvd player for the plane ride, along with my boyfriends PSP, (he's addicted to that thing!) But along with the usual stuff that everyone else said. . . The bandaids and medicine are a must! I am also taking a change of clothes and pj's in my carry on because last time I went to Disney they lost my luggage and we didn't get it till 1 at night! So I think that's a must at least for me from now on!

Everybody have fun on your trips!!!!

ONLY 9 more days and I will be at Disney!:) :D

Always a second pair of sneakers, just in case there is a rain storm because nothing worse than having to wear wet shoes.

I don't bring a hair dryer anymore, I just call housekeeping and have one delivered to the room at WDW. More room for souveniers in the suitcase!

Pack any important medication in your carry on bag in case your luggage is lost.

We just got back form WDW yesterday, and aside from the "usual items", the "unusual" consisted of our own fitted bedsheet and pillows. It's amazing how scrunched down a pillow will go and fit in luggage. The sheet and pillow really make the resort room "our own" with our favorite smell and touch. And you don't have to wrestle those darn flat sheets that won't stay tucked under the mattress.

Another unusual item we took was a 20" box fan we use to cover-up the normal hallway noise since we're both late-night people and don't enjoy rising with the birds and heading off to character breakfasts @ 7AM.

We just slapped our name on the unopened box and checked it as normal baggage @ the airport. For the return trip, the bell-station dudes always have some packaging tape to help with re-sealing the box.

On the second leg of our return trip, the plane's air conditioning system wasn't performing well, and when we went to baggage pick-up, there were quite afew comments from co-passengers that we could really have used that fan "in-flight"!!

Aside from everything mentioned:
I second the Cold Brew Tea bags...makes the free ice water drinkable.

My list (that hasn't been mentioned)
-Brita water bottle (Filters water as you drink it)
-Liquid Band Aid. Brushes over blisters....and stays better then a band aid
-Small deck of cards/small pad of paper: to keep you occupied while waiting in line/waiting for a table at a resturant, etc. With the pad of paper you can play games, draw, keep a trip journal, etc
-Travel games/electronic games (game boy like things) if your driving, or for nights when the parks close early and you need something to do.

I think that's it

Duct Tape.

Works real well to cover bandaids and keep them from sliding around halfway through your day. Some members of my family get terrible blisters no matter what type of shoes they try to wear, so we always wrap their ankle, toes, ect with duct tape before leaving for the parks each morning.

I always bring my Teva sandalls (the kind with the velcro straps and treds on the bottom) they are actually really great for amusement parks! Not too hard to walk/ stand in all day and are great for the water rides (i.e. Kali River Rapids) if you can't stand wet socks like me.

Also if you go to a gap outlet or an Old Navy store, usually in the middle they sell Nylon Windbreakers that fold flat into a zipper pouch these are a must for me and they are only like $5 again, better than buying ponchos after its already raining.

I am a notorious over-packer as well, I have been known in our break from the parks to change clothes while I am at the hotel.

Everyone's beat me to listing most of what I pack. Just a thought on packing a backpack for kids at the parks . . . what is the last article of clothing to dry when you get soaked on a water ride? I would toss in extra undies for each child, and when their shorts were fairly dry, I'd have them change . . . makes for a much more enjoyable day!

Hand sanitizer is a must. Keep a small bottle in your purse or backpack.
I second that! Who wants to get sick at Disney World! We always bring an extra container of it along to keep in the room, in case the travel size sanitizer gets low.

An antispasmodic is also good to take if your tummy gets quesy. I carry ginger altoids for that purpose. Sour lemon altoids work great for that also. LOL I don't think it'd work against Tower of Terror, but for small waves of the green face... they work great.

"when ever you're staying at a hotel remember to bring a towel!"

I disagree. Why waste space in your luggage when Disney provides an endless supply of towels for your use?

Another item to bring is the empty collapsable luggage. That way you have an extra suitcase to take home all those souveniers.

I'm also amazed at all the extra stuff everyone takes into the parks. I prefer to travel light, and if i need first aid i head to customer relations, sometimes they ofetn have aspirin, ibruprofin, antacids, etc.
