Donsn't watching flims on Attractions Ruin the Surprise?

We all know and remember the thread "Doesn't going to WDW multiple times a year desentize the magic?", well, here's my own question, which is kinda a twist on this old thread.

Doesn't watching a film online of an attraction or show make the show not mean as much once it opens?

I mean, people are watching flims of Cinderellabration, Soarin', Moters Stunt Show, etc. doesn't this ruin the surprise to you? don't get me wrong, online flims are great, but i always wait until after i see it in person.

THIS THREAD IS NOT MENT TO BE AN ARGUMENT!!!!!!!!! PLEASE DO NOT START AN ARGUEMENT, THIS IS JUST A SIMPLE QUESTION.

Thanks

No argument here! But for me, it doesn't take away.
Seeing something on tv, video -- whatever -- is no comparison to seeing it in real life, to me anyway.

Curious to see what everyone else says.

I don't think it spoils it that much. Can you really compare seeing "Wishes" at the parks over seeing "Wishes" on video? IMO no....

But I do agree some attractions should be kept as a suprise otherwise the experience is ruined. PotC, for example. The only fun from that is the incredible theming. If you've seen the theming already why bother to do it again? IMO fireworks, shows and coasters/simulators can't be ruined by seeing a video...

'Gentle' rides and themed rides which heavily depend on "wowing" you can be ruined if you see a video first.

I kinda have mixed feelings about this.

I would have to agree that seeing an attraction or show prior to it opening would take away some of the magic from it. But at the same time it would also build up the antisipation to see it for yourself knowing that TV or the internet could never do it justice.

It is like those poor unfortunite people that have never been to WDW. :( Does watching a special on WDW on the Travel channel or getting a vacation video take away from the magic of seeing the castle for the first time?

Seeing something live brings an entirely different feeling to a show or attraction. Just the rush and thrill of seeing it live is enought to make it more magical then any video can ever do. :sohappy:

For me, I don't see how seeing an attraction preview is any different than seeing a preview for a movie. I think that everyone has a basic idea of what an attraction is going to contain. No video compares to seeing a Disney attraction in person.

Everyone is different. I would tend to think that if something is fresh and you never seen it before, there is more excitement for seeing it the first time. But some people mayfeel the need to see something, and that gives them excitement knowing they can see it in person.

I myself like to go in "fresh". I watched the Motors show last year, cuase I'm not all that pumped for a show in general. so it doesn't kill any of the excitement for me. Cinderellabration I don't care too much about either, but no need for me to see the show ahead of time either. If it's good, it will be a pleasant surprise

I watch a lot of attraction videos, but I know that it would be more impressive when I would actually experience. In fact, that's how I have gotten to see stuff I never got the chance to see(Tapestry of Nations) ad stuff I will never have a chance to see in person as it was gone right before I went(Horizons, ToD, and especially JII original)
EDIT: It's my Stitch post! (626 posts)

I love to read about new rides and attractions before we see them for the irst time. Pictures are great...I won't watch a video though if I haven't already seen or rode it. I don't want any spoilers, I want to experience for the first time. OK sounds like a birds and the bees discussion now...sorry....

Watching a video never spoils anything for me. I've been pumped for a long time to ride Mission Space and have seen the video more than a few times, but the first time I ride it, it will be totally foreign to me. Which stems from the fact that movies and real life are totally different. Imagine seeing a film in a theatre, and actually seeing the film BEING filmed. Two totally different experiences.

If I have never been on it then I dont view anything. Like I know Steve has some videos of M:S but I dare not watch them because in 8 days I wanna experience it fresh and not know what to expect. After that I will download it
