Has anyone done the swimming with the dolphins tour? is it worth it? my hubby wants to do it for our may 18-25 vacation. is it worth the 300 dollars to go? what's it like?
I did the Dolphins in Depth Tour; I don't know if this is the one you mean though.
It was a 3 hour experience, only 30 mins or so of actual dolphin interaction. It was in waist-deep water. The whole tour/ experience consisted of learning about their behaviors, training, anatomy, habitat, etc.
Very informative and fun, but not by any means considered "swimming with dolphins" I highly recommend it though if you are interested in learning about dolphins. Feel free to ask any questions I didn't answer. I'm not sure if this is the Tour you're referring to. There are some other snorkeling/ scuba experiences there, but I don't know if they involve the dolphins or not.
Yea Dolphins in Depth is the only Dolphin program at WDW. My friend and I splurged one day and did it. I loved it, since I've wanted to since I was old enough (for about 7 years I think). I'm a CM so I got an awesome discount. I don't know if I would've done it having to pay full price but I'm a poor college student.
The interaction was GREAT and learning about the training they are doing at The Seas was very interesting. I even saw some kids show on PBS that was in the area with the dolphins. I got so excited watching it.
Dolphins in Depth is $150.00, so if there were two of you, it would be $300.
I haven't done this one, as you don't actually get to swim with the dolphins. You do get a photo op with them, but not much time in the water with them at all.
However, I did do the Aqua Seas tour, and it was the best money I ever spent in Disney. We were in the tank for over an hour, and it was amazing! Also included were refreshments, photo and Aqua Seas t-shirt. I cannot recommend it enough.
Dolphin Tours will be an amazing idea for my customers. Truly speaking they need such opportunity. I don't what you guys are thinking about the same notion. But to the best of my belief I will love to ad this one with my travel package. I am sure my esteemed customers are going to love it.
If you really want a great experience with Dolphins and a great day at a beautiful Park, try Discovery Cove. We did a day over there in 2006 and it was wonderful. We will go back next year. This trip coming up in May, we are going to do the Dolphins in Depth tour. I love Dolphins and want to see what this tour is like.
At Discovery Cove we got to swim with the Dolphins and we got pictures taken as well as video. It was one of the MOST memorable experiences I have ever had. That is why we WILL go back. We were at WDW and just took a cab over to Discovery Cove. You get all day in the Park for one entrance fee and it includes food and dolphin interaction. If you do not want the dolphin package, you can pay a lower entrance fee to swim and hang ou ton the park and check ou tall the other wildlife, like Rays and birds and it is not as expensive as the Dolphin package. It is a beautiful Park.

Thanks for all of the feedback.
it is the dolphins in depth tour that i was thinking of.
we may have to factor it into the budget.
can't you book up to the day before?
I believe you can book it up to the day before but there are only 10 (maybe less) spots for it and I'm not sure how many they do a day. I had to book mine out a few months.
Dolphins in Depth is an amazing experience. It is about 3 hours and they give you quite a bit of behind the scenes information about the Dolphins and the Living Seas in general. The staff is extremely friendly and informative. You don't actually swim with the dolphins, but are in waist deep water with them for 30 minutes or so. A portrait with one of the dolphins is included. The sessions are limited to 10 or so people, so you get a lot of individual attention. It was a great experience, I highly recommend it.
Is there a minimum age to do the Dolphins in Depth tour? My 13 year old daughter would love it and if we went back in a few years would she be able to do it?
