I agree with Kat's Gatlinburg suggestion about the long weekend trip. It's great for a long weekend, and a friend of mine just mentioned last weekend that they had a LOT of cabin deals right now because tourism is down.

I think Gatlinburg would be nice too...I've been there, but when I was a kid, so I don't remember it much...but from what I remember, it was lovely.

I think this is the place we rented cabins from the last time. http://www.parksidecabinrentals.com/ There's lots of shopping/ dining there and they have a big aquarium, mini golf stuff like that.
