does UoE need to be more relevant?

Frankly, I think the attraction needs to drop Ellen and Bill Nye.

Bill Nye isn't relevant anymore, Ellen isn't as popular as she was in the 90's and Alex Trabek shaved his mustache.

It's dated, poor and simple.

They still show Bill Nye videos in Middle School Science classes. They did when I was in Middle School, they did when my younger brother was in middle school and the STILL do for the younger kids on my parents street! Believe me, everyone still knows the theme song... (BILL BILL BILL BILL)

and Ellen is always cool! I love her Amex commercials. I watch her show when I'm home at 4, which is never anymore... but she's one of reasons I like UoE so much!

They could definitely use an HD movie tho...or atleast a new reel that isn't so dirty!!!

Yes! Yes! A million time yes. I can not remember a time when energy awareness was higher than it is now and this attraction needed to be reworked to reflect that.

"You... you mean in order to get an eruption of oil you shove a pipe into a hole in the earth? Giggity!"

hahahaha thats great!

It definitely could use an update. The ride is VERY long with all the preshows and the post dino show. I think the theme is relevant (energy), but needs to be updated to bring us into the future. Theres quite a push for green energy, independence from oil etc. Would be good to get something going with that.

Can you believe it's been a year already since that thread?

We should bring it back.

And I know this is a bit "Fanboyish" but I would LOVE to see the Radok Screens return.:lookaroun

I think a new updated script, and maybe some plussing of the effects is all it needs. I don't care about the science guy, but Ellen is cool in my book. She does some funny broadcasts from Universal Orlando. I'm a housedad(not by choice) and watch her everyday.

there is nothing fanboyish about the radok screens, they were an interesting, new, and unique feature, but were difficult to operate.

if they were to return it would still appear "new" to many guests who never saw the original radok screens, let alone ever see anything like that, except maybe those flippable billboards next to highways.

I just got done watching video of the original show, and besides being a dry show in terms of education (the kids infront of martin smith were asleep by the end of the show), the attraction still provided a great story of what types of energy there are in the preshow, fossil fuels and its origins, the diorama which was full of effects that are no longer used, and then the energy info theater where we see potential uses of new energy.

A daytime talk-show doesn't get the ratings a sitcom does.

Frankly, they need to ditch the whole, "Celebrity" aspect of it and simply make something more relevant.

But heaven forbid something at Epcot change from what it was.

I think it does need to change, but I would check those figures on Ellen.

Her talk show has made her more recognizable and popular than she ever has been. Hence her spot with Beyonce for Amex. Her face and comedy sells.

That being said, it does need a little tweaking to bring the facts to be scientifically relevant. As for the approach, I still greatly enjoy it and hope they do something similar and funny.

forget about the ride...Jamie Lee Curtis needs to be updated from the Jeopardy segment...but seriously, the ride seems dated, not from the ride part, but the Ellen segment. I never found that part funny and I wish they would bring back a more scientific aspect...there is nothing funny about what is going on in the petroleum world today. Maybe something that would open up our eyes to a future without petroleum might be a better tact.

Expo-yeah,UoE was one of the more boring EPCOT Center attractions.BUT it was very innovative.Combine that with the "fun" feel of Ellen and a perfect attraction is born.
