So it seems like Raya has been officially added to the Disney Princess lineup. I feel like the property would make a great attraction in an Asia expansion at animal Kingdom. It could give us dragons that have always been promised, but never delivered, by Animal Kingdom. Maybe a ride could serve as a sequel of sorts to the original film.

It's a shame that this movie didn't turn out better. All the elements are there. It was just executed so poorly and in general it was just such an average to bad movie that we will likely never see any Raya presence.

Although it could be a cool tie in with animal kingdom and its original intent to have dragons. But even if they did something like that, they wouldn't lean on the Raya brand.

While not perfect, it seems the general public liked it. Those are good scores.

Like I said, average to bad. 70% audience score is not good at all. The general public is very forgiving.

The movie was tonaly all over the place, using modern language like fan-girling. The world was also really under developed and basically made no sense. It'll be forgotten, already mostly has been.

Make up whatever ancillary stories you want to stoke your rage.

I mean, it's a fact. The movie flopped at the box office and did poorly in streaming rankings.

The point of this thread was to ask about Rayas future, if any, in the parks. Clearly it's future doesn't look bright. No rage over here. Just choosing to look at this objectively and deal in facts.

Oh you poor thing.

You think Raya had a wide release like any other movie and it wasn't released on D+ the same day it was released to a drastically reduced number of theaters due to the pandemic. And you think it should have excelled in both streaming and theatrically release at the same time.

No wonder you're so wrong when you are so ignorant of the facts.

Once again, you're simply wrong.

It was released on a reduced theaters because they anticipated low demand to see it. This is easy to verify. Look at the top 100 box office for 2021. Many movies released in 3-4000 + theaters. So the pandemic only affected Raya? If a theater company doesn't think a movie will do well, they don't carry it. In this case, Cinemark.

Additionally, blaming poor box office numbers on the pandemic is a falsehood. It was beaten by 23 other movies, with the top 10 all grossing well over 100 million to Rayas ~50 million. Again, Raya was the only movie affected by the pandemic?

You can make all the excuses you want based on false assumptions. Numbers are numbers, and they prove my point.

The situation you now acknowledge should lead one to the opposite conclusion.

You can't compare releases from late 2021 to early 2021. In early 2021 most people weren't vaccinated and many businesses were still closed. Things gradually opened up more as more people got vaccinated throughout the year.

The question is, is Raya a good movie, house enough to create many fans making it worthwhile to put something in the parks. The answer to that is generally accepted to be no, it's an average movie.

You're insinuating that it only didn't do good at the box office because it was hampered by a low theater count. Not that doesn't work, if it was a better movie, it would have gotten more theaters. Cinemark, for example, declined to carry it because they didn't think it would perform well.

Godzilla Vs Kong came out the same month. It made double the amount of money. There are a lot of other movies that came out within a few months that made far more and not much had changed by May/June as far as movie theaters and the pandemic goes. That didn't change till October/November when simultaneous releases to streaming and theaters was stopped.

Bottom line is Raya was not good enough to push people to the theaters.

I think the best comparison to make with this whole question of Raya's representation in the park, is to look at Encanto. Disney did not expect Encanto to do exceedingly well. That is why they did not have a lot of merchandise ready. The movie was actually very good, and now it may be getting an entire land in a Disney park.
