Does queue length equal attraction quality?

I'm thinking to myself, what is the best measure of how good an attraction is or will be? This is a generalization of course, but what's the best way to quantify if an attraction will be good or not?

I've been thinking about this on and off and the conclusion I've come to is the length and quality of a queue generally tells how good it will be - lol. Of course, this is largely due to the capacity and perceived popularity of the ride but it can also be for providing a very detailed pre-story. I think my favorite two rides also have my favorite queues .. IJA and PoTC.

Examples : IJA, PoTC, HM, ToT, SM, Splash, etc.

What other general factors tell you if an attraction will be good or not??

Some rides such as BTMRR have long boring queues, but are really good rides. I agree that usually the longer the wait, the better the attraction, same as the fast pass return times are good indicators. Sometimes other factors will change the wait for better or worse, such as short lines for Splash when its cold.

I don't think so. The Dragon Challenge queue is ridiculously long, but it isn't a wildly popular attraction.

TSM is very popular, but isn't a great ride.

"Good ride" is also subjective. I like Maelstrom more than Soarin...not that I'd don't like Soarin! But it just depends on the person.

Can't really judge a ride by its queue, IMO.

Not always. A queue can be very short and not really have a story element inside the queue like the current Peter Pan's Flight or Small World or even most roller coasters in theme parks but depending on you, you could theoretically still enjoy the ride regardless of the quality of queue or in some cases, regardless of the quantity in time of waiting in line. But ultimately, to do decide if a ride is good or not is to ride the ride yourself.

Sometimes if a queue is too long then the ride ends up being a letdown. If TSMM had a 30-45 minute queue in Sept/Oct it would be a pretty good ride but at 60-90+ minutes with zero FP availability I find the enjoyment of the ride is diminished to it only being a so-so ride in my mind. I think a lot of things come into play but the wait time has to be congruent with the ride experience for the two to balance out for me.

...same could be said of Soarin'

Although quality does increase popularity, I see queue lengths more as a function of attraction CAPACITY than quality. For example, TSMM is a great attraction, but I don't think its quality approaches that of Pirates of the Caribbean or Splash Mountain, which although having respectably long queues themselves don't typically approach the 2+ hour waits that develop so quickly at TSMM. Same thing with the low-capacity Soarin', which has twice the queue length of Mission:Space, but is of similar quality. (Your opinions as to the quality of these attractions may, of course, vary.)

Soaring has had lines of over 4 hours before. Basically four hours spent in a tunnel devoid of almost anything to look at followed by a decent attraction about California.

There is nothing to debate after witnessing that. no they don't directly correlate. In a longer rant, the line length can not be a factor either since the audience varies with each ride. A 100k may go into Epcot but not 100k will meet the height or other requirements for all rides, thus the wait times can't be compared to one another either.
We also see new attractions tend to have swells in crowds regardless of their reviews. (I personally haven't been on it but) little mermaids new ride in MK is met with meh reviews by many and yet sees huge lines daily compared to similar dark attractions, including ones surveyed with better reviews.

Plus lets not forget everyone has different tastes and one persons quality is another's garbage. As of now I think the only globally agreed on, everyone who says otherwise is clearly joking even when saying they are not joking, consensus is that Bon Jovi is amazing and should replace Aerosmith in Rock n roller coaster.

Soarin has very long queues and is a fairly average ride IMO.

One of the longest queues I've ever been in was for the Men In Black ride at Universal and that was a massive disappointment.

We can pretty much rule this out based on PotC rarely going over 40 minutes throughout the year. Wait time has to do with popularity, which does involve quality, but in the end it all comes down to the capacity.

Moral of the story, just judge attractions by their tickets (e.g. E ticket, D ticket etc.)
