Does it bother anyone else that Avatar isn't a Disney movie?

I've seen some artistic ideas for the Avatar area. But it is really just in the throw stuff on the wall and see if it looks good: brain storming stage. Don't think anything I have seen will be there. I give it a 50/50 shot at coming to fruition. If the second movie is never made, it will not happen. The situation is too closely tied to that.

The biggest problem is the lack of a big Disney project that could fill the need in this park and be something that can attract attention. You're not going to see a Robin Hood or Rescuers based attraction. Just not a big following. Lion King? Maybe. But Disney also wants a partner, a financial partner. But you do need something that is not going to be based on live animals. You need something that can stay open at night. Avatarland offers the possibility of those night time experiences that make other Disney parks so appealing after dark.

I don't have a problem with using Avatar. Just not sure that there is enough an experience to create what is needed, though.

well then I hope a second movie doesn't happen, so Avatar doesn't happen...They need to be creative and think of something else..possibly a rainforest? anaconda ride? I don't know, I just thought of that off the top of my head, so why can't these imagineers come up with something?

I could be wrong, but I do not believe that the Imagineers have control of green lighting projects. They are the creative "department" which takes an idea or concept that they are charged with and makes it happen. Im sure that they brainstorm and suggest ideas, but from what I see of it, they were not given the option of not doing Avatar, so lighten up on them a bit, K?

OK, so it's not their fault but it's so dissapointing! They can do a Mulan ride in the Asia section, the can do a Jungle book attraction, have a rain forest etc..Anything but Avatar. You'll see, if this happens it will be a flop like AI...

They could do Mulan in Epcot. Not exactly sure how much Mulan had to do with animals. I could possibly see a stretch with Jungle Book, but (and its been a long long time since I saw it) I don't remember there being a huge conservation theme with it.

With Avatar, you have a world and creatures that are part of a story that would fit well with the whole portion of DAK that never was, but intended, with Beastly Kingdom. Basically, its a sic fi version of what Beastly Kingdom was to be.

Im not so confident in your prediction that this will be a flop. You could be correct, but I highly doubt it.

There is no way that a whole themed area of the park will be a flop.
