Beyond merch events and selling limited quantity items that attract the scalpers, I'm not sure how much Disney is specifically to blame for that kind of behaviour.

Disney is 100% to blame for the AP problem. They allowed and encouraged all these sad people to live in the park every day and clog up the walkways and ride queues. Time to build a wall and make Disney pay for it.

It was even more perfect before APs. There are multiple innovations to blame over the past 30 years for the decline in guest experience, but it’s the unholy union of APs and the internet that have been the most detrimental to Disneyland for me.

The real question:

Would elimination of APs even make a difference?

If you believe its the AP program or even the monthly payment option that is what is causing folks to go, then you don't understand the real issue.

In reality the answer is no. Sure you'll have some drop off because the easy access is gone. But a majority will still find a way to go. And the reason is the same reason why we are all here talking about it, passionate about the location and company. Its an irrational passion for a location and company which we all have a great fondness. Yes its easy to blame APs for crowding, or Disney for offering the program and monthly payments. But really the issue is we are all trying to capture that little bit of magic we felt when we first stepped foot in Disneyland. So unless you can find a way to break people of this passion, you'll never solve the issue. Disneyland will always be crowded AP program or not, its the reality we live in.

BTW, Disney of course knows about this passion and will find every way to feed into that passion like any good business. And just like any good business they'd find another way to get people into the parks if there was no AP.

Anyways, back to the AP and TWDC bashing....
