Does Disney Have Potter?

I might've just completely lost my mind, but I could've sworn I heard the theme to the Harry Potter movies at the Studios on two different occasions this past spring as the background music out in front of the Great Movie Ride courtyard. But like I said, I could've been imagining it, so I apologize if I'm mistaken.

you very well might have, and it could mean nothing...they play the theme to Robin Hood--Prince of Theives and several Universal movies (I've heard Back to the Future) there...they just play famous movie theme songs at the park entrance.

You didn't lose your mind, or we both did. A few years ago I started a thread on the music in mgm (hp music) because I heard the Harry potter christmas theme right outside the GMR. Now maybe its just lots of john williams's music sounds the same, but I was almost totally sure.

If it wasn't the Harry Potter theme, it was "Across the Stars" The Star Wars Ep II Love theme. The song sounds a lot like the Harry Potter theme. It would make sense for this to be the case since John Williams composed both songs and the Studios does play Star Wars music.
It also is possible that Disney has rights to all John Willams music to play in the parks.

Just FYI: Disney owns the TV rights to the first two HP movies. That means you'll see the first Harry Potter movie on the Wonderful World of Disney next year on ABC. And as for the music playing at the Studios, it is from HP. No question.

"A wizard. And also a ride at walt disney world, millions of toys around the world, various snack foods, and you're a movie star"

"Wow."

You're not imagining it. When I was there, I heard it too. I visited a web site where all of the backround music at WDW is listed, and sure enough, the "Harry's Wonderouse World" song is listed.

Just to add another level of complexity...

Disney Online is running a contest for the movie Elf. The only thing is, Elf isn't a Disney movie- it's a New Line Cinema movie. Guess who owns New Line Cinema? Time Warner

Bizarre.

Why the bubble WON'T burst

Because HP is a book, it will never become unpopular. Kids twenty years from now will read it and imagine the kids dressed in the clothes of today, etc. Also, (like Disney movies) it isn't era-specific, but rather totally out of time in its storylines.

I was at MGM last week and they were playing the music from the Harry Potter movies. My daughters heard it too and even said to me," Are they going to build a Harry poter ride?" I thought if they are playing the music then they must have some type of agreement with the makers of HP.

Have you read the books? they have the same 'magical' qualities that Disney itself has! And as for your United Kingdom comment, that is totally untrue anytime I have passed through the UK pavillion is always busy and being from the UK I find it quite offensive.

Just a random thought, but what if Harry were to replace imagination? The whole pavilion could be tied together again ride through of the world of harry and then a 3d movie with all kinds of magical special effects. Everyone hates what they have done with that pavilion anyway and I've heard a lot of people say that movie should be changed out. Like I said just a random thought:D

My family of four have read the books and gone to the movies together. My son who is 10 is a HP fanatic. Even my 12 year old daughter likes to follow along. I personally think UK pavilion would be a awesome sight for some sort of HP attraction. I hate to mention it, but imagine the character meet and greet possibilities. It would also bring a some much needed exposure to the world showcase. Our family personally would love to see it happen.

My wife thought it was kind of odd that they had HP books in the UK pavilion. Add the fact that music is being played at the studios make you kind of wonder. Hey MKT, would any of your friends or yourself have any thoughts on this?

I love the 5 books ( I am reading #5)and two movies out now. Disney could make a lot of money if they buy it and put up a cool ride! :animwink:
