There really isn't a Moaning Myrtle toilet seat? sniff sniff
Think of how great that would be in your guest bathroom!

I think I would enjoy a walkthrough of Hogwarts or something like that.

But doesn't a warner bros. theme park has a walktrough attraction?

Doesn't that affect anything?

And where would they put it?

I think if we will see something like this it won't be before 2007....

Thats just my opinion....

Like LOTR, the books don't assess any current themes or ideas that may be out date in 5,10,20 years.

And hopefully in 20-30 years, after all the books are out and the story is entering its second renaissance, someone like Peter Jackson will come along and do the story justice on film (oh why couldn't they have hired Terry Gilliam as JK Rowling requested....)

It's either Warner Brothers Movie World Spain or WB Movie World Germany, or maybe Australia, I'm not sure, but I believe that all 3 of those parks are Six Flags parks, but maybe Six Flags only has the rights outside the U.S. I'm not sure, I'll look into it.

You know, a lot of media companies option properties like this... be it books, movies, television shows, ect.

Not all of these properties turn out as planned (successful or otherwise). In fact, I'm sure Disney makes dozens of deals like that every year, and not just for theme parks, too.

As for someone's question about James Bond, well, I know that Paramount used the chacter in a motion simulator in their parks a few years ago. As to who owns the theme park rights now, I don't know.

Ok, I did some digging, and found out that there was a Harry Potter walk through experience at Warner Brothers Movie World Australia, that being the only Harry Potter themed attraction in the world that I found, but the attraction was closed at the end of May, supposedly to make way for some kind of Matrix ride. I do know that Warner Bros Movie World Madrid and Warner Bros Movie World Germany are both Six Flags owned parks, but neither of them have a Harry Potter ride. But I'm not sure if Warner Bros Movie World Australia is owned by Six Flags, it is not listed as a park on the Six Flags website, while the other two are, which leads me to think that Australia must just be something Warner Bros went off and did by themselves.

What does the closure of the Harry Potter ride mean? Does Six Flags own the Australia park? These are just all interesting questions, and it will be interesting to see how this subject pans out.

this could be great. i think harry would be around for a while, and if disney bought the rights to them, they could have a "WIZARD's LAND" and the only way to get there is through the Hogwart's Express. There would be a coaster to simulate broom flying, a dark ride through hogwart's showing all the mysterious places throughout the castle, and the moving stairs would look awesome, and some sort of 3D film where the young wizards practice their magic spells... and the audience gets involved. All the CMS in this land would look like wizards, and it would be GREAT... i am actually not a BIG fan of harry, but harry would make disney A LOT of money, which in turn would bring more exciting things for the future of disney.

I think that a Harry Potter attraction of some sort would be a great idea and draw for MGM.

Those of you who are apprehensive about a WB property and merchandise being sold in the parks shouldn't worry. This type of thing is being done already.

Ever ride Star Tours? How about the Indiana Jones Ride in Disneyland?

These attractions are both based on movies that are produced in conjunction with other film studios: namely 20th Century Fox and Paramount. The key is that George Lucas controls the rights to those names and characters, just as Mrs. Rowling controls the Harry Potter licensing.

The "MGM" in Disney-MGM studios doesn't really mean anything and it never really has. Even the Great Movie Ride features scenes and dialog from movies from other studios (again, FOX and Paramount).

The idea of a Harry Potter ride would be great it apeals to all ages, all over the world. I do think that Harry is here to stay for a long time yet and would attract alot of people, me for one. How about a flying ford anglia!! the whomping willow and Qudditch, there is so much that the books have, that could be turned into an attraction, I'm keeing my fingers crossed that this is one rumor that will apparate

Well, there is a simple way not to base this possible ride on the movies--make it about either book 4 or book 5--then Warner Bros. would be the ones who'd have to worry about not copying Disney:) It'd be kewl to have a ride going through the Tri-Wizard Cup and the showdown w/ Lord Voldemort and the Deatheaters at the end...although I'm not sure the kiddies would like seeing Cedric's...um...scene (are there still people who haven't read Book 4 who want to?)...maybe they could cut that part out...

Error in the Information

I have a personal friend that went to that meeting and inactuallity It wasn't Bob Gault, it was Bob Shreve who made those statements. The real reason why Universal backed out was because of thier current financial reasons.

Just letting you all know,
Justin

A Harry Potter ride could only be done justice within a Disney Park
it's a perfect attraction for the Disney MGM studios as George Lucas said the only themepark I would wan't my product to be in
is Disney!

My wife wants an entire Harry Potter park. Can you imagine some of the rides? Hogwarts Express, the whomping willow, moving stairs, the forbidden forest, and lets not forget Quiditch.

As do Star Wars fans, etc...

I think one ride will do fine, all the creative juices could be concentrated on one thing and it will live up to it's quality.

I hope this isn't too much of a drift. But I noticed something last week while I was at MGM. Now that you are discussing this, I think it might fit.

In a couple of the shops at MGM, there was LOTR movies for sale, books and merchandise like shirts. I had never seen non-Disney things in the parks before and was wondering if it was a sign of things to come or just a fluke because of its popularity.
