Being the Holiday season I'm sure that back-up dinner reservation are non-exsistant. plus, if your on the meal plan you've been playing on using two-sit down points.

I just feel sorry for those families that have planned on seeing this show for probably a year and now can't.

I also hope most people would know they're rolling the dice when making a reservation for an outdoor nighttime dinner show in December.

I know it would be nice if Disney could squeeze diners with cancelled reservations somewhere else, but that would just cause even more problems.

The cast members at the Polynesian would try to find alternative reservations for the guests at locations throughout WDW. (If one finds out about the cancellation of the dinner show while in the parks, stop by Guest Relations and they can work some magic most of the time). There are other options if all the other places one wants to go are full, particularly during the holiday season. If one feels like a gambler, one could try standby seating at restaurants. Certain locations , like Tepan Edo, which needs to fill 8 seats at a table can sometimes accommodate standby seating (small parties, 1-3 people can increase one's chances). Finally, as a last resort, go to the restaurant of one's choice 20 to 30 minutes prior to closing, inform the cast members of what happened with the cancellation of the dinner show (bring along a copy of the reservation), and if they possess the true 'Disney Spirit,' they will seat you.

This happened to friends of mine last year.

They were offered an ADR at Kona Cafe, which they took. I know they were also given a couple of other choices (I believe Grand Floridian Cafe and maybe The Wave).

hope that there is reservations still available for hoop-dee-doo. there isn't that many options available because it is the busiest time of year, so everything is going to be double booked , and disney can't increase their dinning capacity without breaking laws.

Disney does have the WOL pavilion that could be converted to a poly themed and used as a secondary location for the aloha, but it would cost them some money to do that as a just in cause option.

As someone said, they are booking an outside dinner show in a season that causes it to be canceled because it gets cold in the winter.

Before our last trip (mid-December), we were making our dining reservations at six months out, in the middle of summer when cold weather days was the last thing on anyone's mind (we're getting away from cold weather by going to Disney!)

Most people don't know a whole lot about the Spirit of Aloha show before seeing it the first time, and for example, don't know if it is in an enclosed show building like Hoop de Doo or not. If Disney dining doesn't specifically tell you the show's availability is subject to the weather, people won't assume this.

Now, honestly - I don't remember if we were warned or not. I do remember they wanted payment in full for the entire party at the time of the reservation, so we decided on something else. Thankfully. The shows were cancelled due to cold weather on some of the days we were down there.

Well usually at these times there is no much done at the Convention Center at Contemporary. If Disney wanted, and they could is easy to set there, since it is just closer. And I had seen Disney set rooms in hours before for night time events and is Amazing.
