Does Disney California Adventure have enough repeatable rides?

I been thinking for awhile Disney missed opportunity to make Pier akin answer to DCA version of Fantasyland. Hosting a couple of dark rides than just flat carnival rides.

The perception would be much better with a quality dark ride or two. Instead they spent the same amount of money to turn it into Pixar Pier for a grand total of ZERO new rides.

That what upsetted me with the whole retheme. Could have remove Goofy Sky School for a new dark ride pad. Or remove the board games to squeeze another dark ride.

I’m not sure that by itself it’s enough room for a dark ride by modern standards. I’d love to see Disneys take on an old school Fantasyland dark ride if that’s even possible

Yep, you’re right. Only 19 rides. It didn’t seem like it was that few.

I agree with you, DCA could use a boat ride. I wish they would destroy that back corner of Hollywood Land and actually create something worth seeing.
Oh, the Newsies on Broadway promo era of DCA, when they had cast members as the characters singing on the trolleys. What a time to be alive.

Repeatable things at DCA:
1. RSR
2. Guardians
3. Soarin' over Cal..oh...
4. Ghiradelli sundaes
5. Leaving the park and enjoying an excellent meal at Napa Rose instead of spending more time at DCA.
6. Ooh, or Disneyland
7. Or Trader Sam's
8. Or Knott's or...

....

In Disneyland it would be out of place but at DCA it fit right in lol. It’s been there since opening day in one form or another. It’s as DCA as it gets. The whole Pier I think is grandfathered in. It’s part of the fabric of the park. I would have never greenlit it myself but here we are. I appreciate the energy, the fun rides and the ambiance at dusk/ night.

At this point what could really fit in its space without getting rid of some of the other stuff in the surrounding areas. Paradise Gardens is a no fly zone as far as I’m concerned.
Honestly the fact its been there from the start is even better of a reason to trash it.

If I was in charge of DCA the whole carnival rides and pier would be gone. The ferris wheel, rollercoaster, and carnival rides are so far removed from any other Disney parks.

I'm glad you get enjoyment out of it though, it was just never my thing I guess.

I can think of so many attractions in Avengers Campus alone... oh, wait, you said rides not attractions? :D

As someone who spends basically 2/3 to 3/4 of their park hopping days in DCA vs. DL, there's plenty there between characters and entertainment to keep me happy.

However, I can count on one hand the rides that I can actually go on without getting sick to my stomach there -
  • Trolley Car - yeah, I don't go on this at all
  • Little Mermaid - I go on this if dragged by a friend
  • Monsters Inc. - love it, totally charming, a solid dark ride - but I probably only go on it once or twice a year - and yes, with friends
  • Soarin' - can't stand the World version, really liked the CA version, but again, only tend to wait in line for it if I'm with friends who want to go on it
  • Webslingers - if the line wasn't so long, this would be the most repeatable ride for me in the park - I categorize it with Buzz, which I'll happily hop onto if there's a short line - but I think my arms would be super tired if I managed to do this ride more than twice in one day lol

I think Toy Story Mania is very very repeatable. Mission Breakout, Radiator Springs Racers, IncrediCoaster are fun to do more than once too. Yeah I’d say it’s pretty solid in the attractions department.

I think it current state, that parade building is not feasible to repurpose as a facility for a dark ride. But it definitely way larger than Toy Story Mania footprint. I’ve felt that space was missed opportunity for a nice dark ride.

There always this rumor talk that Paradise Pier has room of a size of Pirate of the Carribean. But I don’t know how that hold true.
