Does Anyone Else Think That The Millenium Celebration Was A Little Over The Top?

The Millenium celebration was fantastic, It had new things to watch and do. The millenium village, (Ireland) The Tapestry of Nations parade, (Miss it soo much) and the New Illuminations, (I enjoy them soo much) the celebration was done soo well.

Yeah, it was a good celebration and we went twice. First time in November of 99, then again that upcoming june with our grandparents, so they could see it and so we could officially be there in 2000. It was a good time.

Agreed that 100 YoM was overdone though, with far too few new things to do.

I don´t think the Millennium Celebration was too much. It was a worldwide celebration, so it had to be done that way.

I can only speak for my country, but I think I had never heard about WDW so much before the Mill. Celeb. It put Orlando back in the map for vacations in Mexico (not that it ever disappeared) because people had more specific reasons to choose Disney over anything else. You know, when you have to pay in a different currency that costs you a lot, you really think twice when you travel and wonder if there is anything else other than what you have already seen the previous visit. So all the media coverage that Disney got with the celebration, made people book more trips there, not only during that year, but the following ones.

I had never been so bombarded with Disney before 2000.

Luckily for me, I was part of that celebration! :)
