Does anybody know why RNR was closed Sunday night?

Hi everyone,

Just came back from a quick trip to WDW. Had a great time! Anyways, I went to Disney Studios on Sunday night to ride RNR at about 7:00 PM only to be told that they were having some technical difficulties and that they were going to be closed for at least 2 hours. I was very disappointed because I had to leave at about 8:30 PM to catch my flight back home that night.

So, does anybody know what was wrong with it? Just curious ...

Oh good, you know, I was a little worried that something may have happened. Sucks though, I think it is fast becoming my favorite ride in WDW!

I was there last week too but I didn't even go towards it (Just the thought of going upside down bothers me for some reason.) What day were you there? If it was Thursday, did you see the bag that was left in front of the hat that they had surrounded by security? They had to bring in a dog to check it out but it ended up just being a regular bag that someone had left there!

Well, here I go with my first post. Have been lurking in here for quite a while. Found the perfect opportunity to jump in.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I am a fairly new CM, who coincidentally was working at RNRC last Sunday night (hopefully posting this doesn't get me fired). It started with an E-Stop because of someone who moved their hands from outside of the harness to the inside. After that, we kept having a problem with one of the sensors (probably as a result of the E-Stop), where the ride kept stopping on its own (something the technicians for the ride had to keep fixing). By around 9/9:30, they decided to just shut the ride down for the night so it could be examined further.

I'm sorry you didn't get to ride it :(

Nothing was wrong, they just heard you were coming, and wanted to ruin your evening. :p

First and foremost, a HUGE welcome to WDW Magic! :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:
So that is what happened, wow, thanks for letting me now! It did suck, it is my favorite ride. So, how do you like working there so far? Hey, maybe I'll see you on my next trip, I take my family to Disney about once every 1-2 months. As a matter of fact, I've actually started remembering CMs from previous trips. Say hi to Ryan (CM at Great Movie Ride) and Doug (driver for the Resort Monorail) for me, they rock!

I love it, my fellow cast members at RNRC are great (including management, which is rare from what I understand). I love seeing the behind the scene stuff in the ride, and riding it with the lights on at night. My biggest reason for being there though is the guests. I love seeing people who are excited and happy being there.

If I'm not mistaken, if the pre-show is not working, don't they have to shut down the entire ride? That's what my old roommate who worked the coaster told me. She said it was part of the deal with Aerosmith that they couldn't run the ride without the preshow.

I am not familiar with a CJ, but I havn't been working there for very long (still fairly new).

Ask some of the other CM's if they know CJ! It's really cool to know a CM, even if it's on the internet!

Your roomate is correct, if the pre-show is not working, RNR will be shut down, though I believe the part about a deal with Aerosmith is incorrect. With all of Disney Attractions, there are what is called Major Show Elements. All Major Show Elements have to be working in order for the ride to be functional.
